I guess it has more to do with it being a way of life. Growing up all men in my family owned flushing dogs no matter how old or young they were. If you were old enough to hunt you had a dog. The only exception was my uncle who married into the family had setters and springers that he always ran together. I know bird numbers are not what they were but I still see enough grouse and woodcock have been excellent these last few years. I guess I will continue to do my part by inviting others on an outing. I go duck hunting with them often but ask them to enjoy a day afield with me and log a few miles.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Right same boat I'm in they will go a few times love watching my cocker work but..... After the first few trips tell me it's too much work or they are to hard to hit ect. I think it's something with our generation needing instant gratification. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No they were in Stuben county. Orleans dose have them but they are on private lands and I haven't secured permission. It takes some traveling but is always a good time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How many in their 20's and early 30's own and work bird dogs flushing or pointing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't see where steel would do any damage as it is a modern firearm. You could email CZ USA for clarification Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes they do drop pheasant well also. I have found the 3/4oz loads just as deadly as wildcats experience with the 1 oz. loads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

. They do however at the time of purchase it was a fixed mod. By Full gun. They have since changed it to fixed imp.cyl by Mod. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

. I would encourage the purchase. Mine has left me happy. And I like its simplicity with double triggers and extractor. As much as I would like a "really nice" double at the end of the day I'm an American blue collar worker who busts brush with a flushing dog on the weekends. I would loose it the first scratch my $2000 dollar gun got. Plus everyone who sees it comments on how nice it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I should change my name to sub gauge hunter. As I get a little older and financially secure I have added a couple more guns to my Arsenal. However the hand me down sixteen that got me started will always be in the rotation. It's modified choke sometimes discourages me when in pursuit of ruffed grouse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The gun is a CZ USA bobwhite in 28 gauge with 26" barrels. It's my go to grouse gun after logging many miles the 5lb 12oz. Gun is barely noticed. And it's quick to the shoulder with overlapping patterns. I couldn't ask for much more out of an attractive side by side for under six hundred bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

had the dog out last Sunday and flushed 11 birds in two hours. Dropped three total one for each gun in the party. Wish I could head out tomorrow but juggling a young family and a passion for flushing dogs proves difficult. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wouldn't be concerned dropping down to 20 ga. I have an H&R ultra slug and it only take one slug to put whitetails down out past 150. Most shots inside 100. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not many issues with bow hunter interaction. For the most part I do my best not to disturb bow hunters while pursuing Ruffed Grouse. However occasionally o run into the guy that is very far away from where he had parked. Usually when I notice them I give a wave and head in a different direction. And he pleasantly waves back. Sometimes there is a confrontation. And one time I bumped a doe right to a bow hunter in a field he had a nice 10 yard shot and told me how well mannered my cocker is and that he hoped I had a good day afield. Prove you wrong how? What do you want to know? I hunt with a single shot 20 ga. Slug gun. Take only shots I'm comfortable with. No five shot volleys with guts hanging out. To say all gun hunters are lazy is pure stupidity. You actually have no idea what other sportsman do. I have no issue with what bow hunters do until some guy is yelling at me for working my dog during "deer" season on public land. Not sure exactly what you want me to prove though. my boys first ever brookie and out take for dinner. A remote Adirondack stream. The two of them finally understood my obsession with brook trout. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I don't understand why people wine about it I guess it's just in their nature. I know during bow I prefer to work my dog and no amount of hanging from a tree will replace that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is why the man had his opinion right here. Generalizations of all gun hunters.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mike again somethings are lost in translation on these boards. Pheasant are by no means "dumb" however i feel a lot of people who pursue them in our state believe they just run around in the open until shot. Also when i said a few days the point i was trying to make is that after a few days they will still be there and offer hunting opportunities. You don't have to deal with crowds and or unsafe situations to hunt and bag released pheasants. You don't have to be there shortly after they are released there dose not need to be a mad rush to be the first on them as they will seek cover and disperse across the landscape.Again your information is very useful and appreciated.

I'm sure Carlton hill still has pheasant they are just few and far between now have seen them while spring turkey hunting down there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well to each their own I guess. Not my idea of a hunt even on released birds. At the same rate most of pheasant season I am woodcock hunting and target the pheasants on my way to and from my woodcock spots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There are still birds on tondowanda as of Thursday you can hear them cackling. Your going to have to work for them though for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
