i've thought about this good and hard and after being told how bad the buck population is maybe they should just close buck hunting all together for a few years that should grow the age structure .......- 320 replies

and as far as ar's go in general if they were to go state wide i would deal with it it would affect where i buck hunted but it could be done. the one area i hunt has many nice bucks every buck i have seen in the last 2 years would have made the ar grade unfortunatly the ar grade would not have protected many 1.5s in this area though.- 320 replies

belo you need to stop hiding behind the ar curtain and admit that you will shoot any damn deer that comes infront of you ....." I have never made any attempt to hide the fact that i'm a horn hunter. So long as I have some venison in the freezer,"....." i know it seems hypocritical but i couldn't be picky this year with the birth of my son. He was still a nice 150lb. deer. And 15 seconds later out stepped a big 9" this agrivates me more than ar's themselves people who push them because they can not control themselves while hunting. it goes back to nyantlers remarks of people talking the talk but not walking the walk. if you want to shoot big deer do it don't shoot the little ones weather you have meat in the freezer or not. your "young and financally successfull" your family won't die if you don't take a deer. your pride will most certainly take a hit though seeing your this great white hunter who will harp on others for things you do yourself. i'm glad you harvested your buck just as im gald for everyones deer harvests this year . but do yourself a favor and admit you took that deer because you wanted too not because of the birth of your son but because you wanted to shoot that deer. the same as i wanted to shoot my deer. that simple it will give you more credability with many on the board i would presume......- 320 replies

Binos fog up
16. ga hunter replied to fasteddie's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
bushnell scopes are good products from my exp. and if you have a problem they are warranty and they stand behind them dad just got a new scope from them after 22yrs of 12 ga abuse because it would not hold zero. if your buddy still has it he should send it in they will make it right or at least they have for me. also i belive he is battleing external fogging from body heat not internal -
wny whitetailer i also must be crazy do all my deer hunting with a h&r ultra slug 20 ga. bushnell 1.75-4x32 think mine tips scales at just under 10. mostly still hunt heavy but accurate as can be took my deer at 60 yrds full tilt one shot kill and am confident i could do it any day of the week.used the open sights i had installed though. small game my 58 16.ga sportsman 48

Binos fog up
16. ga hunter replied to fasteddie's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I use dish soap on my glasses to keep them from fogging. my bincs do not due to my glasses i presume.... dish soap may not be good for coatings though not sure -
doe good to see me and the cocker are going out in the am hopefully some grouse maybe some rabbits shes good for flushing out squirrels too...... thing is to the dismay of the pureists i have found none of the fur to deter her bird flushing skills.... main problem with some of the bunnies is shes just too close...... also the open fields put a whoopin on my small statured birddog but she will run the thickets for days on end good luck with the rest of your season

Any Grouse or Quail hunters here?
16. ga hunter replied to shawnhu's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
according to the grouse log data 1.2/hr is state average and you need to shoot at 14 to connect........ -
bearspring is quite an awsome place my grandmothers family is from colchester/downsville and have been there quite afew times..... the dmps like candy in the late 80's early 90's really took a toll on the deer...... my great uncle spent his life on a dairy farm in the trout brook valley and i remember him saying when he was a boy a deer track was quite a sight due to the acid factory logging...... if you do return to bearspring the upper rd out of the park towards walton can be productive

steve mcd there are good populations in various sections of the state takes research and time in the woods to find them all but..... pygmy where in stuben? have had good flushing rates the last few years there and things are really looking good for this season..... was hoping to get out tommorow but some unexpected home repairs will keep my am. cocker and i indoors -
i like to use this weekend to really get out there on the state land i hunt head out early and get in sit till about 830 then still hunt through afternoon. thinking i will go behind the private lands on our road long long walk but has proved productive.

i know county parks by me are clearly posted by the county and would result in tresspass charges. you already know that though if you feel the need to ask you know its wrong....
-
my cocker has been giving me glarring looks these last few weeks. took her on a long walk tonight to start lossening her up for next weekend.im just glad she didn't eat anything like blankets ect like my dads one lab would do.......soon the ruffies will be flushing

wny i understand that and have no problems with qualified individuals using thier atv legally. normally these individuals are out using them to take game not stashed in the back of thier truck....just get very agrivated with abuses of lands ect. that i see

the wolf is a great front stuffer and if you wait till mid january can be had for less than 100 if you look around. i know bought mine that way new for 85 best 85 i've spent in awhile
-
have always seen deer while bird hunting but whatever you do do not ride a quad on there. not legal and will cause the park service to close it down. i often wonder why i see trucks with quads parked by state lands evidently now i know. higher aspirations? maybe man up and drag the deer rather than pass a six and then recomend others abuse public lands.and at 1/4 mi. you have barely touched the available lands.

phone always works great for me

Hunter/Game Warden relationships
16. ga hunter replied to DeerLogic's topic in Advertisers / Site Sponsors Area
i have always had good experiences with them myself on multiple occasions find it helps to stick to the laws and not bend them for your liking. esp sundown time on the one parcel of state land i hunt. have talked to them while they were waitig for late shots and to them late shots for this area are anything after sunset. -
depends how you hunt if you spend the time in the woods you will see and get deer no matter what. i hunt from sun up to sun down when i am afforded the time mostly on the weekends and i unt only statelands.see deewr most outings just need to be deepr or near escape routes ect and use the parttimers to my advantage when they go out for lunch i fill my tags.
