Heading out tomorrow with my daughter for some squirrel hunting. It’s her true passion in game pursuit at the moment and her rifle skills are quite well. We shall see what the day brings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another action packed afternoon

I believe so can’t wait to spend time afield with him. His sister is a joy afield but between sports clubs and school work has trouble finding time to come along. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Spent a little over Two hours out with Flushing Bailey Lynn of Rose Cottage today. Made contact with five birds total. The first was a runner that looked like a race horse trotting across the cut field after it broke out of the rough. Called the dog off and continued to work the hedge line. I saw one duck from the cut line into the thickets and the dog was on him. A short chase ensued and with a single cluck two birds took flight out of the brush. I dropped the one cutting right but could not get a bead on the second going left. The cocker snatched him up to the field and set him down the moment he stopped twitching. She seems to think once they are dead and dad can see them it’s time to find the next. About another two hundred yards down the hedge/swamp line we had our second runner break into the field dog right behind. She turned back towards the thick stuff but a doe jumped up and I whistled the command to recall. She doesn’t seem to pay deer any attention but I gave that rooster a pass any how. We worked our way back to the truck against a cut line pond bank but flushed no roosters. Along the drainage for the pond the dog got on the last rooster for the day working him hard in the brush/cattails his cackles giving clues to his flush point as she worked him. He finally flushed but had decided his best bet was to go deeper into the cattails. I held my fire to give my hard working dog a break and as she returned I got the glare of a disappointed hunting partner. As when made the truck the rain started so we called it a day. Teddy was more than excited to hold the bird for today’s picture. And wants to know when he can go.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hmm don’t believe 12 ga stock would fit the receiver without significant modification. I believe the stocks are 16-20 compatible and 28-410 but 12 was on its own. Might not be too bad though... I’ll have to look at/measure our 12. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cleaning years of gunk and hardened oil from yet another sportsman 48 16 gauge. Wouldn’t mind finding another butt stock for it to shorten for my daughter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My cocker and cackling roosters

Yes even with the less than stellar weather it was a great day afield. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Had another successful day afield in dismal weather. The dog did her job as she always dose and we came home with a bird apiece. Probably could have bagged another bird a piece but my dads knee was getting sore and the rain was getting harder. My cocker got on my bird hard in tall grass and headed it off on the run Turning it back towards me and running down forcing it to take flight when it became pinned about ten feet in front of me cackling with the best of them as the small bird dog leapt after him. After it was well clear of the cocker I Dropped it with one round from the sixteen on a quartering away shot. We finished working the field and moved to the next. Bailey flushed my dads bird for its first short flight out of a cut line in the field he missed with his first shot and the bird landed and ran into the thickets between the field and the swamps. The cocker didn’t show her 9 years of age as she charged in after it and flushed it cackling back out towards the field. His second round from the 12 gauge sportsman 48 dropped the rooster and the flushing wonder retrieved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes they are adjusted properly. The whole gun just needs to be taken and cleaned. I don’t think the previous owner cleaned the action. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Culver I believe the slugs are due to the ploy choke. Mine throws them well to 75 yrds easy. Also have one with a poly that I picked up a year ago need to take it down and clean it as it won’t cycle below 40 * Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pygmy basically it is an 11-48 but it’s a sportsman 48 factory limited to 3 rounds. Bought new by my great grandfather around 1954 and hunted with by him,my grandfather, father and now me. As seen we all are/were hard hunting men but she still functions flawlessly and look forward to the day my son takes it afield. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Went out in the cold temps and high winds with my cocker this morning and had a blast. She flushed the first bird out of some swamps and I winged it but that little 23 pound dog ran the bird down and took a beating retrieving him. With the might of a much larger dog. My second bird was one of two she flushed out of a thickly undergrown hedge row. Knocked him down with one shot of the 16 ga. And she retrieved him with a quickness also dead and just about to hand. She flushed two more on the way back while we were checking known woodcock areas out. No timber doodles today though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Easy go out after about 11. Wait for everyone to push them out etc. then go out and hunt the midday. Your dog gets a better hunt also. I also prefer grouse and woodcock but hunt the released pheasants out of convenience and proximity to home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Chevy saw the same thing in the hills to the north of bath too 8p. I think it’s years of dmp hand outs and there is a very diverse environment in the area large tracts of farmland and forest. That don’t really abut in another. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Plenty of good hunting around bath quite a bit of state land. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Even if they don’t there are still birds out at most. Not a lot but they are there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

At that mileage I would put money on a broken valve spring.they snap off on the top by the lock clip. I wouldn't run 4 Techron thought it either one will do if it's a carbon or dirt issue.cylinder leak down would be the most precise diagnostic aid at this point on the number 8 cylinder but not everyone has a leak down tester. Yes peel skin back remove breast is easiest. I skin and prepare whole. Generally substitute for chicken. Step one is shooting them though which can prove to be quite the challenge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

License Question (Bow Buck Still Eligible?)
16. ga hunter replied to greenecounty's topic in General Hunting
During late bow you can use it. And depends on the doe permit. If it's a dmp yes either would be acceptable. It is generally a good idea to read the regulations guide that comes with your license as ignorance is not a defense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Not a problem... there are still areas I have yet to explore out there. It's hard to gauge this year as water levels are very low. Areas are accessible that are usually swamped out. If you decide you enjoy the area hip boots are a good investment. Will be out that way this weekend with my cocker hunting woodcock and maybe taking some pheasants. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nope your good to go there... most are on the east side of sour springs. If your in the middle most will stay either closer to sour springs or closer to 63. Hip boots are best for all of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
