  1. Another nice youth buck. Greene County 10/12
  2. Over the years I have experimented with different calls. For the most part they don't work but I have had some success with a couple. The one that has had the most response is the can. One time I used it on a buck that was over a 100 yds. away and he came straight to the call. Another time while using a grunt call I had two bucks come down opposite ridges. They met at the bottom (to far away for a shot) and put on one hell of a show. After the fight was over they both walked away and I couldn't call them back but it was worth the price of admission. At the right time and place they will work. On a few other occasions using the grunt I have had them bolt like someone just kicked them. In your case if you can see them I would keep it very subtle. Just enough for them to hear it and don't over do it. These are the two I have had luck with. Good Luck & shoot straight!!
  3. Well that didn't last long Federal appeals court upholds New York's ban on guns in sensitive places NEW YORK (AP) — A recent Supreme Court decision doesn’t mean New York can’t enforce laws banning firearms from “sensitive” places such as public transportation, hospitals and schools, a federal appeals court said Thursday, repeating findings it made a year ago. Last December, a three-judge panel of the 2nd Circuit said New York could continue enforcing laws banning firearms in 20 categories of “sensitive” locations and could require handgun owners to be of “good moral character.” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement that the appeals court upheld the “common-sense measure” she signed into law two years ago. She said the law was “saving lives across New York” and was a factor in New York having one of the nation’s lowest firearm mortality Federal appeals court upholds New York's ban on guns in sensitive places

  5. In these parts for the most part they go nocturnal around the first part of Oct. Bucks and Does. You might catch them out during the day once in awhile but for the most part all movement is at dusk or after dark.
  6. Nice bull..... congratulations!!!!
  7. That is a great story and I can't help but envy you. The trip of a lifetime and a memory that will last forever. Congratulations
  8. As a rule I only used one ladder stand and it had a lifeline. Everything else was primarily out of a climber. I always had the safety harness on and was tethered to the tree going up and coming down. It only takes one wrong move and your life can be ruined forever.
  9. Not sure how much of an impact it will have but I guess it is better than nothing if it survives the appeal process. In Buffalo on October 10, U.S. District Judge John Sinatra, Jr. declared unconstitutional a New York law that outlawed bearing arms on private property without the consent of the property owner. Extensively citing recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions, Sinatra ruled that the Second Amendment lets New Yorkers carry firearms even in such scenarios, so long as it’s private property that’s open to the public. 11. The game warden asked the man, “Do you have a license to catch those fish?” The man replied to the game warden, “No, sir. These are my pet fish.” “Pet fish?!” the warden replied. “Yes, sir. Every night I take these here fish down to the lake and let them swim around for a while. I whistle and they jump back into their buckets, and I take em home.” “That’s a bunch of crap! Fish can’t do that!” replied the warden in disbelief. The man looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, “Here, I’ll show you. It really works.” “O.K. I’ve GOT to see this!” The game warden was curious. The man poured the fish into the river and stood and waited… After several minutes, the game warden turned to the man and said, “Well?” “Well, what?” the man responded. “When are you going to call them back?” the game warden prompted. “Call who back?” the man asked. “The FISH,” the warden said sternly. “What fish?” the man asked.
  12. Taken 10/5/24 Scored 200 2/8"
  13. Geneva 14-Point buck Troy Studer, 29-year-old resident of Geneva, shot his first extra-large deer on Friday, Oct. 4, just four days into bow season, with a bow on his property in the town of Geneva. The deer was an enormous 14-point buck with five drop tines. To give perspective on how rare this is: A single drop tine only occurs in about 1 in 500,000 bucks, meaning a deer with five drop tines has a probability of about 1 in 3,125,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. This is an astronomically rare, almost impossible event. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime (or several-lifetimes) kind of deer.
  14. With New Gun Laws in the pursuit to fight gun violence. Might want to think about all future gun and ammo purchase to be made in cash The biggie is this one: Legislation S8479A/A9862A requires credit and debit card issuers to use the firearms and ammunition retailers merchant category code (MCC) created by the International Organization for Standardization in 2022 for businesses whose highest sales value is from the combined sale of firearms, firearms accessories, or ammunition, and it empowers the State Attorney General to bring an enforcement action for any violation that is not cured within 30 days, which can result in fines up to $10,000 for noncompliance. New York becomes the third state, joining California and Colorado, to enact this requirement. Legislation S6649/A2882 requires firearms dealers and gunsmiths to post warnings at sites where firearms are sold and distribute warnings at the time of sale. These warnings must state that firearms increase the risk of suicide, death during domestic disputes and/or unintentional death to children. Legislation S9760/A10356A requires a firearms licensing officer, upon the issuance of a license, to provide information about statewide resources related to safe storage of firearms, child access prevention and firearm violence prevention, as well as information on specific county and local laws and regulations related to child access prevention and safe storage of firearms. The legislation also requires the State to develop and implement a public awareness campaign regarding safe storage and child access prevention, requires those materials to be provided in digital format and available online, and mandates they be updated annually.
