  1. It is not just our company but we are finding out ours is one of the worst. New Yor Central Mutal Fire Insurance Company better known as NYCM. After a zoom meeting yesterday with several individuals and a senate representative we discovered the primary reason the bills have not been advanced is because lobbyist for the insurance companies have been lobbying against them. That means a portion of all of our premiums are being used to pay lobbyist to fight against laws that would help the insured. So basically, we are paying them to stick it to us.
  2. Yes Doc we have. We have been in litigation now for over 7 months. Unfortunately, insurance companies have no one to answer to so they can drag it out as long as they want to. No laws to protect policy holders and people all over the state are getting boned.
  3. Things are heating up and other states are pitching in:
  4. It has been two years since we lost our house due to fire. Since that time the insurance company has given us nothing but grief and we still have not received payment for the amount of coverage we are entitled to and paid for. That being said we have found NUMEROUS people that have had the same or worse experiences. Insurance companies across the state are not paying claims or not paying claims in a timely matter. Through this process we have discovered there was a bill introduced in 2021 that would give policy holders a way to dispute. We are trying to get this bill moving and hopefully passed so EVERYONE in the state would have a voice if something should occur. I encourage you to read and support Senate Bill S6813A/S1797: NY State Senate Bill 2023-S1797 (nysenate.gov) There is an identical bill in the assembly: A7285A: NY State Assembly Bill 2021-A7285A (nysenate.gov). I can provide contact info. if necessary.
  5. Unfortunately it happens. Trapping conditions now are at their worst unless you are a water trapper. At least you know you can catch a coyote and that is a good start.
  6. Maryland House Democrats introduced a controversial gun safety bill requiring gun owners to forfeit their ability to wear or carry without firearm liability insurance. Maryland bill would force gun owners to get $300K liability insurance to wear or carry | WHAM (13wham.com)
  7. As a country we are overdue for an uprising. Just too many that won't stand up for their rights. Everyone seems to have their own agenda and can't seem to agree on a common cause. Abbott always finds different ways to get around the federal bs. but continues to fight the fight. Hopefully he will find a way around this one. If anything, the Border Patrol should stand up and start defying orders from the feds that the majority probably don't support to begin with.

  9. A lot of good points being made here. First let's look at a couple of definitions: The definition of hunter: noun 1) a person who hunts game or other wild animals for food or in sport. 1) a person who searches for or seeks something: a fortune hunter. Heritage: noun. something that is handed down from the past, as a tradition: I have mentored a number of people including my own kids that are now grown up. I also have a number of relatives that "used" to hunt. Exposure does not seem to be the issue. A number of them including my kids have almost no interest that has to do with anything related to the outdoors. They are hunting the easier life with a lot of social interaction. They are always looking for an easier or better way rather than going back to their roots. Finding ways to make more money and to live more comfortable is the trend today. Who wants to go set in a stand and freeze for the chance to shoot a deer that they probably don't like to eat when they can stay in a comfortable environment and have their food delivered to them. I think hunters are born and not made.
  10. New York (WRGB) — A new poll out Monday morning shows Gov. Kathy Hochul's popularity is on the rise. Between Jan. 14-17, 807 registered voters in New York state were polled; 507 contacted via phone and 300 from an online panel. Of those surveyed, 45% favor Hochul over the 42% that do not. The latest rating is up from 40-43% in November, and "the first time it has been positive since it was 46-43% in February 2023." At least 807 people do. What a Joke
  11. As mentioned by others the consistency is more important than the thickness in one area. But here is a good guide:
  12. Town of BurlingtonOtsego CountyWater Rescue/Recovery: On Jan. 6 at 2:45 p.m., a subject walking his dog called 911 after seeing two ice fishermen fall through the ice on Basswood Pond. Forest Ranger Laymon was at the Jacobs Road trailhead one minute away from the pond. Ranger Laymon saw one of the men treading water, but lost sight of the other. The ice was approximately one-inch thick, unsafe for fishing. The Ranger entered the ice, crawled toward the 42-year-old from Richfield Springs, and used a throw bag to help the subject out of the water. The subject grabbed the rope and Ranger Layman pulled him onto a sled. At 2:55 p.m., the Ranger pulled the sled to shore where he was met by members of the Edmeston Fire Department, who used their truck to start the drying and warming process to help the subject suffering from hypothermia. Ranger Laymon headed back to the ice to search for the second man, the first subject’s brother. At 3:05 p.m., Ranger Laymon located the 41-year-old from Richfield Springs in seven to eight feet of water. New York State Police, Otsego County Emergency Services, and Edmeston, Fly Creek, Schuyler Lake, and West Edmeston volunteer fire departments helped pull Ranger Laymon and the submerged man out of the water and onto shore. At 3:23 p.m., the subject was transferred to EMTs who began CPR. Both subjects were taken to the hospital. The first was treated and released. The second subject was declared deceased by the hospital later that night.
