  1. A great American.... I think he wrote this for himself after his diagnosis:
  2. You Can't make this stuff up New York man charged for spray painting squirrels red New York man charged for spray painting squirrels red | WHAM (13wham.com) Maybe it should be posted under the clean chuckle thread.
  3. According to google: A 7-inch front print is from a bigger bear -- 300 to 400 lbs. for a black bear. An average weight for a male brown bear is 500 lbs., with a large male bear weighing up to 800 lbs. Brown bear front tracks are between 6 and 8 inches long -- a 6- to 7-inch front track would likely represent a 400 to 500-lb.Apr 29, 2018
  4. I couldn't explain what it is like without tying up the entire forum. Sad part is... it isn't just us. All across the state people are getting boned by their insurance companies on a regular basis. I and others are trying the best we can to get these bills moving and passed into law as soon as possible. Unfortunately, our lawmakers don't feel an urgency on this issue or many other issues that would benefit the common person. Sad state of affairs
  5. DEC announced that online registration for the 2024 Summer Camps program will open on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 1 p.m. Guardians can register youth for a week of camp, manage their account, and complete required forms and waivers through a link from the DEC Summer Camps webpage. Parents and guardians are encouraged to register early since many weeks fill up quickly and are advised to monitor the webpage for upcoming announcements on 2024 camp forms. DEC operates four residential camps for kids: Camp Colby in Saranac Lake (Franklin County); Camp DeBruce in Livingston Manor (Sullivan County); Camp Rushford in Caneadea (Allegany County); and Camp Pack Forest in Warrensburg (Warren County). Opening of specific camps is dependent on staff availability. At camp, kids will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of outdoor adventures and are encouraged to try new things. Activities may include fishing, birding, fly-tying, archery, canoeing, hiking, camping, orienteering, and hunter safety education. Visit DEC’s website for more information on Summer Camps.
  6. Town of Kent Putnam County Ice Rescue: On Jan. 20 at 2:47 p.m., Forest Ranger Lieutenant Ashida was in the parking lot at White Pond talking to anglers about measuring the thickness of the ice when an angler ran over reporting someone nearby had just fallen through the ice. Lieutenant Ashida grabbed a personal flotation device and a throw bag and ran to the location. A nearby angler had already successfully pulled the 65-year-old from Patterson out of the water. Lieutenant Ashida helped walk the subject to his car and met Ranger Cowart and members of the Kent and Kent Cliff Fire Departments. Ranger Cowart helped the subject out of his wet clothes and into a sleeping bag for warmth. The subject was checked out by EMS and declined further medical care. Resources were clear at 3:37 p.m.
  7. Until current gunowners stand up and make a stand we will continue to get bombarded with these types of bills and laws. I was amazed at the number of permit holders I know that were not aware Hochul changed the pistol permit renewal in 2022 from five years to three years. At the same time she added requirements to the permit application process. Before one can even apply for a permit the following is required as of 2022: II. MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR CLASSROOM TRAINING CURRICULUM Concealed carry firearm safety training must include 16 hours of in-person live classroom instruction conducted by a Duly Authorized Instructor. III. MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR WRITTEN PROFICIENCY TEST Following completion of the 16-hour in-person classroom instruction each student must demonstrate proficiency by achieving a minimum correct answer score of 80% on a written test covering the course curriculum. IV. MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR LIVE-FIRE TRAINING CURRICULUM Concealed carry firearm safety training must include 2 hours of live-fire training. V. MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR LIVE-FIRE PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT Following completion of the 2-hour live-fire training, each student must demonstrate proficiency by successfully completing a live-fire assessment. From what I have been told the live fire class/ test runs in the neighborhood of $200.
