  2. I commend you on resisting the temptation of a new bow Rob when the money was needed elsewhere, I would prably had given in and bought the bow, and a Big Thumbs Up to Jeremy for helping out a fellow forum member like that! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  3. Nice shot Larry couldn't have placed it any better.I will not be posting pictures daily myself either as living in the city I don't shoot everyday but plan on shooting once or twice a week Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

  7. I know it would be a long drive for most of you since the bulk of the forum seems to be from the southern tier but I figured I would throw it out for discussion. I know of a place here in the northern zone wmu 6k in the barnes corners area that rents cabins. The place is called tuggers it's a camp ground where they have camp sites and cabins. I rented a cabin once about 10 yrs ago and I believe it is like 75$ a night. The cabins are small prably 2 to 3 hunters a cabin I'm not sure if we could get them cheaper if we rented a few. In the summer the place is filled with the 4 wheeling crowd and in the winter the snowmobile crowd but when I was there in November it was just a few other cabins filled with hunters and quite a few cabins were open. There is a ton of state land around there. I have been hunting the area for about 30 yrs. The place is not swarming with deer but there is a decent population and they tend to run big as in body weight as they have to survive tremendous winters up here, this place gets plastered with snow. A lot of the areas I hunt are a maze of ski trails and logging trails which might make it easier for people to navigate the area and cut down on the risk of someone getting totally lost as most of the trails eventually link up with another trail. There are no doe permits for the area it's bucks only. Well like I said it's just an option I thought I would throw out there i don't know if there would be enough interest for people to come this far north. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  8. I kind of like robs idea of a DIY hunt here in NY somewhere for deer Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  9. Same here, I was told by the dealer where I bought it that storing it in a case should be fine as long as the case is stored in a good consistent climate. You wouldn't want to store the case like say in the attic where in the summer the temperatures could reach 100 degrees or in the trunk of your car where the temperatures could very a lot. 10. That's great 4 winns makes great boat and the 3.0 litre has plenty of power Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  11. Congrats, looks like a nice boat. What is the year and make? It looks like it has an I/O? Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  12. Don't forget boat stands for Break Out Another Thousand. It depends also on what you intend to use it for fishing and pulling little kids on a tube occasionally or pulling a 250 pound waterskier. I have a 18ft bowrider with a 190 horsepower I/o and I love it, power to spare. You also have to decide on fiberglass or aluminum if you go bowrider, aluminum is a lot lighter to tow around but fibreglass is a lot smoother riding boat. Lots of choices good luck! 16. Now you guys got me worried about the Rage hypodermics I bought last year, I never got a chance to shoot them at a deer last year and now I'm hearing they have a reputation for not diploying? Great! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  17. Sounds like good advice my problem is I live in the city where you are not supposed to be shooting bows I have about a 10 min drive to my sister in laws house where I plan to do my practicing not that far but not as handy as walking out your back door.Im a country boy stuck in the city! I do like the thought of concentrationing hard on your first arrow as that likely will be the one that countsSent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  18. Finally got a chance to dust of the bow yesterday evening. my first few arrows were a little off I think due to my form being a little rusty ( haven't shot since last year) but about 6 arrows in I was shooting pretty well for me.I only shot at 20 yrds yesterday figuring I would start out close for the first few sessions getting my form back then eventually move out to 40 yards which is about as far as I feel comfortable at. I plan to shoot at least twice a week from here till bow season.I am shooting a Mission Venture with a 60# to 70# pull set at 64 pounds with a 28" draw.Last year was my first season hunting with a bow in a long time I used to bow hunt years ago but got out of it till last year when my son's interest in it resparked my interest and we both bow hunted last year niether of us having any luck getting a deer in bow range then again last year was a bad year overall with my son and I only getting 2 dear combined during rifle season.Since I am relatively new to bow hunting I am open to any suggestions or advice. We both can't wait to get are first shot at a deer, friends we hunt with say you will remember your first bow harvest way more than any you've gotten with a rifle. When do you all start practicing for the season? Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
