  1. Discoverd this evening as I was retrieving my trail cam from my private 70 acre lot that I have permission to hunt that my nephews hang on that he left there since last season has been stolen. I have an idea it's the guy who leases the fields on the property for growing corn but I don't know how I will prove it.The stand sat back in the brushline about 10yards looking over one of the corn fields. This is the second stand that has been stolen in the 12 year span I have been hunting the property.I guess it's time to buy more trail cams and not only scout for deer but also scout for trespassers! 2. Correction the stainless -06 is toped with the leupold vx1 that you guys helped turn me onto the rest of the rifles have prostaffs Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  3. I started out with a bolt action wood stock Remington in 308 that I bought used at a gun show, I chose the 308 because that's was the caliber of my dad's favorite rifle. I don't remember the exact model because I was young back then and didn't pay close attention to the model. I inherited my dads favorite rifle a few years later when he past away and that was a Winchester 308 semiautomatic with a beautiful wood engraved stock, once again I am not sure of the exact model. I hunted with that mostly for the next 10 yrs until it was stolen along with a few other guns I had accumulated when my house was burglarized. It sucks you can never replace things like that.Since then I have had an assortment of guns come and go. I currently have 2 Ruger Americans(i don't think you can be them for the price) one in 243 with the blued barrel the other is a 30-06 in stainless both toped with Nikon 3-9-40 prostaffs.I also have a Reminton 7600 weather master in 308, and a Mossberg Patriot in 270 Woodstock. I also have a cva wolf muzzleloader. I like to alternate guns from year to year and plan to carry my stainless 30-06 this year while I let my friends son who I have been teaching to hunt over the last cpl years and is now 14 carry the 243. 7. Shot decent tonight the first picture was from 30yrds the second picture was from 40yrds had a bit of a flier on my last arrow! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  8. Your right Dave there is 10s of thousands of acres in that area but those areas do not offer a high probability in receiving a second doe permit. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  9. I got the Butt out 2, and the Outdoor Edge Razor-Blaze which has the replaceable blades from one of my kids for Christmas last year, plan to try them both out this year. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  10. I agree with Rattler I had a Nikon pro staff 2×7×32 on a Winchester model 1300 that I used to have and I loved it. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks stone I appreciate it, if I end up with a 8n I will definitely get a hold of yeah Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  12. Sounds like a lot of opportunity in a relatively short area. I would just as soon not drive all over.I think my plan would be to come down once for maybe a weekend maybe after the season ends up here that way I also would be extending my hunting season Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks stone I'm up for any advice my plan is to get some ideas from you guys, check them out and decide which one would best fit me. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  14. Great info that was going to be another question I was going to ask. Since I don't have a shotgun currently if I don't find a rifle area I would have to use my muzzleloader. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks culver it sounds promising, a place that's got a lot of state land with little pressure that's easy to get to sounds perfect! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  16. So here's my dilemma. I hunt mainly in wmu's 6g,6k and 6n, there are no DMPs in 6n it's very hard to get them in 6k you need some preference points, and for 6g you have a high probability for you first choice but a low probability for your second choice. Last year it was the same way and out of my family and friends that I sometimes hunt with ( around 10 people) only 2 of us got a second doe tag for 6g.I am considering putting in for my second choice as somewhere down south that has a high probability for a second choice. Here are some of those locations,3m, 3r,3s,7f,7h, 7j,7r,8a,8c,8f,8g,8h,8j,8n,9a,9f,9g, and 9h. I first would like to say I am not looking for anyone's honey hole if you would just some advice as to hunting some of these areas. I have never hunted anywhere south of Adams Ny.I am looking for some advice like wmu's with a lot of state land, areas with a decent whitetail population and for areas where a newbie hunter to the area would be able to find and be able to navigate without to much trouble.Would be happy to find and area where I would have a good chance at filling a 2nd doe tag not necessarily drop a Boone& Crockett. Thanks in advance for any advice hope to get some good ideas. 23. Nice shooting db! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  24. These were my first shots the first picture at 20 yards the second at 30 yards and the third at 40yards. I hope with enough practice I get to be as confident at 40 as I am at 20. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  25. I usually do 3 or 4 all day hunts per season but my all day hunt includes an hr lunch where I go back to the truck to get warmed up and have some lunch and then go back to a watch at a different spot Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
