That was my thought process yesterday....solo doe gets taken. Need to fill the freezer with 2 growing boys and the price of store bought food going through the roof. From what my buddy told me is they came out with a totally different more flexible insert. I am guessing like you said the battery technology is way better than 5 years ago as well. I don't believe hebhasbused them yet since it really hasn't been that cold all but maybe 2 days this season in wny so far. Sent from my SM-A716V using Tapatalk

Hunted dark until noon and didn't see a deer. Went back to camp had a quick lunch and went out with my buddy to set a blind so we can bring our boys to camp so everyone can go out together Thursday or over the weekend. After setting the blind my buddy dropped me at a stand and headed towards the swamp. He said to watch behind me because that's where all the deer have been coming from this year. Well a little over a 1/2 hr. Later I hear couching coming from the west and then spot a deer in the scrub making its way towards me. She basically came in without stopping. I projected she was going to cross a shooting lane at around 25 yards yard so I drew back and when she hit the opening gave a quick meeehh and released the arrow. It all felt good, and looked good until I noticed the arrow hit a bit high and didn't pass through. She ran around 20 yeards and the arrow fell out and then another 40 was outta sight but I heard a crash. Waited and hour and found her dead where she crashed right on the arv trail. Eneded up being 21 yard shot so I clipped high lung and stuck the broadhead in the opposite shoulder. Had to be real careful while cleaning her out, and tried pullIng the broken shaft out with the broadhead but it wouldn't budge. Happy to put meat in the freezer and I waited as long as possible and she didn't have a single buck in tow. Sent from my SM-A716V using Tapatalk

Had the lead/mature doe during yesterdays PM hunt come in and catch us before we saw her. She didn't know exactly where we were but wasn't happy which resulted in a stomp....blow and bounding off with two others in two. Fast forward 25 minutes later and the same crew came right back thru. Went back with a buddy to confirm my earlier suspicion of no hit. We tracked over 500 yards from where the deer was standing when I shot. No lighted knock on the bolt so we couldn't find that....but we found the trail she torn down like a bat outta hell, then down into a small revine with a creek and back up the other side with not a drop of blood anywhere. So after the one doe blew out from behind us I saw movement in the same direction 20 minutes later.....they made their way back and we were ready. Xbow was up and when the lead presented a slight quartering away shot at 40 yards I let one fly. She took off like a bat outta hell. So we jumped outta the blind to look for blood. Well.....no blood and no bolt. We advanced the search a little over 50 yards and backed out with no sign. Headed back after the boys go to bed. Frustrated the last two days is an understatement. The three of us had a chat on the way home and each has learned something from this weekend myself included. I need to let the moment happen and no force it since the boys are with me. This one didn't feel forced but the wind was definitely let out of my sails with no blood at perceived POI. Sent from my SM-A716V using Tapatalk
