    Scrape question

Passed by it this morning on my way in dragged some fresh estrus right through poured A little on the licking branch set up 30 yards away and put a sent wick 15 yards infront of my stand I hope I see some action
  8. Back In the stand light wind rain and temps dropping here in 3 s
  9. So when I got down from my morning sit today I decided to do a little scouting. Normally I wouldn't do this but I can't used this property untill November 1st I saw a scrape underneath an apple tree but instead. Of the licking branch being of twig size it was a little thicker than my index finger and was freshly broken.... Has anyone ever seen this before..... Any way I took alittle estrus and dripped it in the scrape.... When I go out tomorrow I will run a drag through the scrape and place a sent wick about 10 yards out from my stand..... But if anyone has seen a licking branch like that before I'd like to hear about it I will take a pic tomorrow
  10. Really quiet first time ever on this land that I haven't been surrounded by deer by now
  11. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  12. Sitting on a corner between standing corn that will not get cut and an apple orchard usually the field is full of deer this time of day but today there is not one insight. Not seeing to much sign In the area either very strange for this place

  14. Finally in my stand for my first sit of the season work and life have gotten in the way but now it's time to get it done. Couldn't ask for a nicer morning
  15. I've never hunted it.... But it's big woods and steep terrain
  16. Hopefully next Saturday..... My first sit of the season, hunting some apples and standing corn. Got my tree picked out 20 yards off the field edge where the corn and. Apples meet
  17. Blackradio you get used to it you just have to keep the casing tight to the tube, also feed the meat into the grinder slowly. It really will become much faster than using a press... As a chef I have studded 1000s of lbs and once u get comfortable with the machine it is 10x as fast
  18. And just to throw this out there the first deer I get this year I'm going to make tartar with the heart..... Some diced shallots , capers, lemon juice, mayo, fresh herbs and some salt and pepper..... Oh and definitely a little bit of hot sauce!!!!! Who's coming over for dinner
  19. So as a chef who is also certified to teach the serve safe course ill tell you how it is.... As long as any venison or beef is treated right.... The guts are not spilled on the meat it is ok to eat raw.... That being said the meat should be kept at the proper temp under 41 degreese.... Don't eat raw after it has been out of the freezer for more than 4 days..... There are exceptions to that such as if the meat is controlled vacuume packed then it will last longer..... Just be safe and keep the meat at the right temp and enjoy all the raw you want
  20. Emails sent, as a resident of lower westchester and a person always looking for land to bowhunt I support this 100 percer
  21. Lol u wish..... I know u don't get any and need something for your spank bank
  22. So I just got home from work, im in dress cloths mind you. I look out the back window and see a doe and her fawn in the woods behind my house, I decide to have so fun. I bust out my grunt/ bleet tube and head for the back porch. I grunt at her a few times and it gets her attention. I creep down the steps so I'm standing on the rock retaining wall about 8 yards from her and I hit the bleet side. She turns and faces me and stops a few times... I give her a few loud grunts and she blows and her and the fawn run about 10 yards to my left.... I bleet a few times and walk towards them..... She stares me down and stomps a few times while i combo grunt and bleet at her.... I climb over the wall and try to get my phone out to video this I rustle some leaves and she blows and they run another 10 yards i keep her attention for a few more min before my girlfriend calls me in for dinner.... She did present what would have been a few good shots. To Bad I live in southern westchester and won't break the law....... I still had a good Time though i will try this again when I see the big buck that keeps comming around good practice for calling
  23. This is true, my parents live in Ardsley and I have seen massive bucks in the woods behind the house. It is always tempting but doing the right thing always wins out. On the other hand it makes no sense that you can't hunt some of these areas. There is space and a need for a reduction in the heard
  24. I am very pumped....I wake up every morning and want to be there..... Not to many nice racks but alot of big bodied deer there.... Last season I missed a massive buck had to be pushing 275 lbs....hopefully ill be posting some pics in 2 weeks.... I'm a meat hunter and can't wait to fill my freezer
