Don't have any from the stand, but did find a winter in the area, a fall and some summers.

Sure points out how easy it is to spot a hunter if he moves.

Go Fund Me Account For the Wall
Rattler replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I believe the prior post answered the question about what happens to the money if the wall isn't built. As far as the donation to build it goes, the money isn't paid to the government until the legislation is signed. Just like when you sign any contract, payment is made on delivery. -

As far as I can tell, Trump has made good on the majority of his campaign promises. Appointments to the SCOTUS being the most important one to me. Which one's has he gone back on? -

The Democrats put a stop to making Mexico pay for it. Wouldn't be hard to do. Just take it out of the foreign aid we send them every year. Besides, after we get it built, we can make them pay for it in plenty of ways. -

As I understand it, the money was part of a sanctions package ever since the hostage event during the Carter administration. Sanctions were supposed to be in effect until Iran was deemed to have stopped supporting terror. Obama deemed them to be compliant, but nobody agrees with that. The US should have gone through the legal process to keep the money and compensate some of the victims of that terrorist event. The rest could've been use to fight terror. -
I have been told the sows are like pork, but any boar needs to have it's complete manhood package removed as soon as you shoot it. That is said to keep the gamey taste tolerable on a boar. I don't know from experience. As far as Tioga goes, I'll pass. It's not worth the price. I'd rather buy a pig on a farm, shoot it in the head with a .22 Mag and butcher it myself.

"Still trying to figure out why we can give $150 billion to Iran, a country that hates us, burns our flag, and funds terrorism, but [the president] can't get $5 billion for the wall to secure our country." —Charlie Kirk -
She's a radical leftist that will die on the bench. Her ego prevents her from retiring, when she knows she is not fit to be on the court any longer. She is an example of how rabid leftists want to control everything in this country. Her perception of her own self-importance has convinced her there is nobody else in the country as qualified to sit in her seat as she is. It's true if you think rabid leftists ignoring the Constitution are what we should have on the Supreme Court. She's unconstitutionally biased and sits on the court to ramrod a leftist ideology on the entire country, acting as an activist for only half of the country, while spitting on the other half. A true leader is not respected for their power. They are respected for how many leaders they create. That being said, you can't bargain with the reaper, and his work is always on time. I hope she begs forgiveness for her sins before that time arrives.

Go Fund Me Account For the Wall

A wall makes it more difficult for illegals to get in. Criminals, terrorists, guns and drugs come in easily without one as well. The harder we make it, the better. Thinking it will do "no good" is a defeatist attitude. This is a huge problem that must be addressed if this country is going to survive as we know it and love it. The cost of building a wall, plus the cost of finding and deporting all illegals, is far less than the cost of supporting them in this country every year. That's the reason analytical people see a wall as a good investment. People want this problem solved. Leftists keep trying to tell us there is no problem. It's a critical issue and it cannot be ignored. If they start coming in other ways, we find out how and we plug those ways too. We need to get serious about the invasion that is taking place in this country, and we need to start pointing out liberals, the Leftist Media and the Democrats, are the ones who are the problem when it comes to stopping it. Anyone who studies the penalties for illegal entry into many other countries around the world, knows America is very soft on illegal aliens. Too bad many bleeding hearts in this land don't see how much Americans are suffering because of the government's apathy on this issue. -
Maybe just decomposed enough to snap off from the neck. That hunter sure got himself a couple of nice racks in the deal though.

Think of it as 700 hundred yards and it seems easier.

Thanks. He's my best so far. I've taken other 8 point bucks, but he's the heaviest with the best mass. Alas, my lifelong pursuit of a ten point has not produced one yet. I missed two opportunities over the years. One got lucky when the 12 ga slug hit a sapling on the way to him, and one was running full out almost under my stand, while I tried to shoot him with a borrowed shotgun, because mine was out of commission. I also gave up a beautiful ten point when I took a job in D.C. for a few years. I let a friend use my stand for the opener, as I missed that opener, the first ever in my life. He scored on a big ten point within the first hour.

I like that. I considered a European skull mount for this deer, but the price was about half the cost of a shoulder mount, so I decided to just go with that. I find the prices charged for skull mounts to be excessive. How much was the cost for this one?
-
When the mount arrives from the taxidermist, I plan to put the photo on the wall beneath it, with this little story on the back of the photo. Just thought it might be good for posterity to know the story of the hunt that occurred. Too many times I've said, "If only it could talk".

No, but there is a 7mm-08 factory round that was once a wildcat. The .308 case, being short, isn't well suited to large diameter bullets that are long. They extend too far into the powder area, which means less powder and slower bullets. It they are short bullets, they don't have the weight for penetration, nor the length for long flight ( poor B.C. and S.D. )

Inappropriate? Seems to me it's essential. -
Pic is in the deer hunting thread last month.

Nov 17, 2018. Upstate NY A Catskill Mountain deer season starts. Snow fell 24 hours earlier. Cloudy, windless, good snow, 28 degrees. In darkness, we hike uphill. With John settled, I head further uphill. At 2100 feet, I climb the ladder. Now wait. Season 48 now. How many do I have left? One can’t hunt if weak. I’m fit, but far from my prime. I focus on shedding weight, in equipment and myself. The mountains keep getting steeper. Keep exercising. Daylight, then legal time. It’s quiet. Nothing moves for two hours. A shot to the south stirs me. A kill? Half an hour later, a shot far east. Coyote? Not long after, a closer shot to the north, then another follows. A miss? I look for movement, Kimber Montana in hand, a 7mm-08 chambered. Movement. Binoculars identify a shooter! It’s running. I mouth a bleat to stop it. My scope finds the heart. I shoot once. Photos follow. It sports only my hit. I gut, drag and hang it. Nice 8 point. Good mass. Goes 160 dressed, maybe 200 alive. My biggest yet. I still have enough in me. God willing, next year I will too.

"Many leftists and LGBT activists are simply not content with 'live and let live.' It's 'embrace completely everything we think, say and do or else we will do whatever we can to ruin you.' What a special brand of tolerance." —Allie Beth Stuckey -
