Pre safety JM Marlin 336 in 35REM

Buck, do you know the year? Serial number will ID it. I'm looking at a 30-30 right now at half the price, but really want the 35. -
Closest town? I'm near Delhi.

Then you’re good. Home ownership is a non-stop slog of fixing shit. Septics last a long time, especially one that sees casual use. The only thing I would say is go easy on it’s use at first to get it accustomed to the new load.

Glad you’re okay, Chef. Scary day.

Could I interest you in a timeshare? It's in the watershed so I could conceivably sell the wooded section to the DEP. -

I'm pretty torn. 125 acres split by a road. 60 acres is mostly forest with a few hay fields. I could not walk that for years and be fine with the other parcel. The main 65 acre section has an old farmhouse with new insulation, heat, walls, ceilings. Needs new bathrooms and kitchen, porch and aluminum siding replaced with clapboard. I figure 100K. One killer three level hay/animal barn with stalls clean and ready, and an attached wooden silo in good shape. One very cool two level carriage barn. Garage, smaller barn and various sheds need to be torn down. I estimate 30K to tear down, salvage and bury debris. Pond needs to be redug and expanded - 20k? Need a utility tractor and ATV - 30k? One of the major stumbling blocks are the power and phone lines/poles that need to be buried. They are located in a very shitty place, because the property slopes down and each has their own pole line - the cans are located at eye level to the ground floor. If the tel co agreed to combine with the the electric company I would be looking at burying both for a run of either 600 or 900 feet at $29/ft plus excavation costs. So about 20K or 30K. 200K plus purchase price to make it very liveable. And I'm old. Does honey sell for 10,000 a pint? -
My limited understanding is that it shows if the bed/field is leaking or failing. Other than digging a tank up, how do inspect a septic system?

I’ve been looking at those. Incredible technology. We are considering buying an old dairy farm because I’m a glutton for punishment. I’m way too old to handle cows, but bees seem pretty easy and cool. -

Mine did. That is, checked the portability of the water and did a dye test on the septic. Outside of digging them up, not sure what else you can test. Not in an non-CO cabin. At least not here in Delaware County. When does your county come in and test well water during a sale?
-
I doubt the county would get involved, but you could pay them for a test. Or hire a home inspector to test the well and septic. I would be more concerned about the well as septics tend to be bombproof. Unless you're in the DEP watershed. The issue will be getting power to the pump. I guess you could bring a generator out and hook it up. Good luck.

Covid outbreak at a nursing home. Quite a contrast to last year. https://www.cantonrep.com/story/news/2021/08/14/delta-outbreak-canton-christian-home-shows-vaccines-power-limits/5460364001/ Thanks, vaccines!

Interesting, the FLCCC guys who are at the forefront of promoting Ivermectin as a prophylactic, have this to say along with their protocol: Wear a cloth, surgical, or N95 mask when in confined, poorly ventilated, crowded indoor spaces with non-household members. Until the end of the COVID-19 crisis, we recommend keeping a minimum distance of approx. 2 m / 6 feet in public from people who are not from your own household.

Ivermectin is interesting. I haven't read enough and am too uneducated to fully understand the science, but it is interesting. Meanwhile ...

Not following your point. I'm not against regeneron - though at 3K a dose for a mild response, someone is getting very rich. And I'm a big fan of generics which my doctor is happy to prescribe. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of the "non-FDA approved" argument that many have been making for a year now.
-
“Governor, people keep falling off this cliff.” “Put ambulances at the bottom to take them to the hospital.” “Wouldn’t it be easier and less expensive to put a railing at the top?” “Why do you hate freedom?” Regeneron doesn't have FDA approval for Covid. Only emergency use authorization like the vaccines. Curious if the people who reject the vaccines for that reason will accept the treatment.

I would vote for Zephyr Teachout just for the cool name.

Nicely said. I've never been coon hunting but it seems like a cool way to spend an evening. When I was training protection dogs, it afforded me the opportunity to travel around the world where I got meet a lot of great dogmen so I appreciate the sentiment.

You just need the right guide to help you get up.

Sounds like Switzerland is in your future.

Trying to come up with something clever, but I got nothing. It's a big beautiful world, fellows, and yours to explore.

Wait, go back … You’ve never flown? How is that possible?

A buddy uses terriers to hunt rats on farms. Here's an afternoon's haul.
