  1. Where are you getting yours? I may have to drive up to Kingston to find what I want and carry on to my place. Is there a good shop closer to the city?
  2. I've read mixed reviews but you may be right. However, is there a particular nikon scope you recommend?
  3. Picking up a CVA Optima which can come with a scope that I understand is worthless, so I'm looking for an reasonable alternative. My needs are simple as I don't have a shot much past 100 yards. Any thoughts? Anyone have an older one they want to sell? Thanks.
  4. Hmmm, I never got that. Curious if that will stack with sale. I'm going to order some more stuff and can put it through another card and address. Send it if you can.
  5. No warmth though. If you get them insulated you don't need much in the way of a base layer.
  6. What are these pants designed for - tough enough for hiking in or just meant to sit around in?
  7. The guys I bought my property from were avid hunters and must have built 20 or more wooden stands over the 30 years they had the property. Now that the leaves are down I can see them all in various stages of decay. Every tree or group of trees they used as support has died. The woodpeckers are happy, I guess, but it took a hell of a toll.
  8. You guys have convinced me. Well, you guys and that scene from Spies Like Us.
  9. As it’s my only cam outerwear, I wore the Kutana jacket over various pieces of warm this weekend.. Interesting that my lower arms and cuffs were wet on the inside after exertion. I guess I had the cuffs cinched too tightly.
  10. Thanks. I have to admit it does look good. Im looking at the midway option - https://www.midwayusa.com/product/939226895?pid=821333
  11. I’m looking at some warm coveralls to throw over my existing gear and a snow pattern is an option. If I look outside my window right now it would match perfectly and my property being on a north facing ridge tends to hold snow early and long. Any thoughts on the viability of snow camo? That is to say, does it just seem like a clever idea and you’re fine with any breakup pattern?
  12. It’s 15* here and the pipes froze in my cabin yesterday so no shower. I smell like last night’s cornbread, IPA and tears. Think I might sit this morning out, thaw the pipes and try this afternoon.
  13. Really beginning to think I’m no good at this. Sat on ground blind fur about 40 minutes until I started to lose my mind so I got up and still hunted for an hour. Nothing. I could be screwing things up by walking all over my property but I just don’t have the temperament to sit and wait. The first person that says, “patience” is dead to me.
  14. I think I’m going to grab the Optima next week as it seems to fit me best. And the bh breech plug. Not sure about scope or open sights. They sell a model with a scope but that seems like a poor option. Opinions always welcome.
  15. Woke up late. Threw on layers of poly, wool, down, fleece, soft shell and hit ground blind. 30 minutes in and I’m freezing. 30 minutes later I’m back at cabin drinking coffee and planning a trip to Dicks to get thick, warm uncool camo for this afternoon.
  16. The secret to Sierra is to wait as a coupon usually pops up every few days. But honestly, you'll never think about that few dollars when you're toasty warm this weekend.
  17. Just received a Sierra 25% off email which includes base layers. Buy now.
  18. I've always wondered why it's called "still hunting". Seems to derive from "stealth". Nice little memory: https://www.grayssportingjournal.com/still-hunting-r-p/
  19. That's what I bought, but I paid less. There's usually a code kicking around. If it helps, I bought L and it fits my 6' 185 well with just a little room. I could fit into a M and maybe tighter is better when it comes to wicking, but I'm happy. Grabbed the bottoms as well.
  20. I do like the Smartwool 250 base layer I just picked up from Sierra. And I have to admit, I look great in it so there's a few extra degrees of hotness right there.
  21. To @Core ’s point, I practiced in heavy clothes with a variety of standing and kneeling positions, both from height and in a depression. Anyway, it all went to hell a few days ago. so no, not a good shooter.
