Well that’s it folks I think I’m going to retire from hunting now. It’s been a year of firsts for me. First deer with a bow First deer with a rifle And now the best, first deer with my daughter in the stand. A small 6 that she spotted before I did and pointed it out. It’s gonna be hard to top today. I know the feeling my daughter is 9 and really wants to go out with me but anything under 45 seems to be to cold for her and she stays home. My one and only goal for next year is to build an elevated box blind so I can have heat for her. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was at home carving pumpkins with the kids the day a large 10 walked past my stand at 9:30am. Would have been under 20 yards broadside.

Not fifteen minutes after@mlammerhirt prediction above the .06 did in fact bark and let me say her bite is as vicious! 150 yards (my longest kill shot) quartering too I put the cross hairs on her front shoulder and squeezed the trigger. She jumped up in the air like a billy goat and ran 25 yards tops before dropping over dead. Half her heart was gone and I got a bit of liver as well. My good friend Jack Daniels talked me into hunting a new spot on the property I haven’t been to yet this year. He also talked me into changing it up and bringing the 30-.06 out for the first time ever hunting with a rifle. I just barley made it though the water without getting wet so that’s a plus already.
