A tip that I just got this year is to lay the sausage out on a tray and partially freeze them before vacuum packing. It will stop the casing from opening up and will stop them from sticking together when thawing them out.

Just a follow up to this. Gerber replaced the knife no questions asked. All it cost me was roughly $5 to ship it back to them. It was a bit of a slow process partly my fault because it took me a while to send it in the mail but even after I sent it it probably took them 2 weeks to acknowledge receiving the knife and another 2 weeks before I got the replacement back. I didn’t really track the time so this is all a guess. Overall I’m happy that they replaced it no questions asked and I’d not hesitate to buy another Gerber product. I feel like I’ve typed out my season a bunch and you guys are probably tired of reading it but in short it was my best season ever in terms of firsts and memories made. First bow deer (4 point buck) First rifle deer (150 yard shot on a doe) First deer taken with my daughter in the stand which was also my first thanksgiving day deer that I can remember (6 point buck) It will be hard to top this season. Anything less than 12" is pointless but I will also add that if the snow is super fluffy they are also pointless as you will still sink down and THEN throw light snow up in the air and down the back of your neck. I've had a pair since I was a teenager, never wore them for deer hunting and only occasionally wore them for small game hunting in the late season when the snow really piled up.

As burnt out as I was that last weekend of the gun season I did miss not being in the woods last weekend. I almost went out with my camera Sunday to sit in a stand for a bit because I have to pull the seat pad but that area ended up being flooded again so I passed. Only 288 days to go now
