I've only done it personally once. Bunch of us where curious about it so we tried it. Seemed like a lot of time and work for what you got so maybe that's why we have never done it again.

Freaks of Four Seasons.
Moho81 replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
Do they start to grow antlers around the same time as a wild buck or do they start earlier in year? -
I have never had cow tongue before but I did have deer tongue once. It was not bad at all different texture but good.

Not to be negative but the forum can not get new members and while guest traffic might be good actual member posts are way way down. I don't see that as a good thing for the future.

My god I can't believe you are still dealing with this after 2 years! -
Small Game Hunt with Elsie & Harleigh
Moho81 replied to airedale's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Nice! Depending on water levels I might try and get out for some small game with my daughter on Sunday. -
You are correct you never once said the word inferior. I don't know how else to say it but when someone besides yourself reads your posts in this thread its very obvious that your take on hunting is going one on one with the biggest most mature buck in the woods and that style of hunting is superior to any other style of hunting. You heavily implied if not out right said that your style of hunting is superior to any other style of hunting that anyone does. Other members disagreed with you and you doubled down with your method your style of hunting is superior and anyone else that does not do it to your definition is not hunting. The opposite of superior is inferior. So the assumption is if you say your style is superior and essentially the only true form of hunting then we the rest of the forum members are left to conclude that our way of hunting which is not your way of hunting is inferior.

I am definitely not the almighty and I am pretty sure I have let that be known over the years. I am in the camp that hunting means a lot more to me than chasing a big buck. I have no problem with the way you or anyone else hunt's. This all started when you called big buck hunters superior and the only true hunters hunting to the definition of hunting. Keep in mind that's your definition of hunting. And not that it matters but yes I have. I have two bucks on the wall. One is 130" that was dumb luck. Right place right time on opening day of the rifle season. Buck number 2 is 126" and I had him on camera before the season. Laid eyes on him twice during bow so I knew where he was hanging out and was pretty sure I knew exactly where he was bedding down at night. I changed the way I entered the woods that year so I wouldn't drag my scent across his travel route. Finally on Thanksgiving it all paid off when around 11am he got out of his bed and came in front of me at 60 yards. Both those deer are my number 3 and 4 favorite bucks I have killed. My number 1 and number 2 deer are much much smaller. The first is a tiny 6 pointer that I shot when my daughter was in the stand with me. I believe she was 9 years old at the time and it was her 5th year sitting in a stand with me. My second favorite deer is a tiny fork that was my first bow kill after bow hunting for 3 seasons without being successful. To this day I still have no great desire to only hunt big bucks. It's not my thing it's not the reason I hunt but according to you I am an inferior hunter.

Perhaps you should not cast the first, second or third stone if you do not like to get called out for calling people out.

1000's of real hunters like yourself that finds, scouts, learns and hunts down one single mature whitetail buck one on one and go until they kill that one buck or bust? I'd be honored to meet each and every one of them so I could shake their hand and bow to their greatness! All Hail King For Seasons!!!!!!

You know I really don't know this gentlemen at all. Mr. Chad Draper from his one quote here sounds quite a bit like you. A real hunter, one that has gone toe to toe with the oldest and wisest of bucks in the woods and has come out on top. Now is he a member of a forum? That I am not sure of so to me you are still the greatest hunter on any forum in the world! In my humble opinion Mr. Draper is real man much like yourself hunts to the truest definition of hunting a man that finds, scouts, learns and hunts down one single mature whitetail buck one on one and go until they kill that one buck or bust. ALL HAIL KING FOUR SEASON! We bow in your presence.

LOL, We get it. You are the greatest hunter on this forum or any other forum in the world. We will all now bow down in your presence. All hail King Four Season

It's really a tough call. Personally I love the black trim but I do not like the white wash of the wood. I am dealing or should I say not dealing with the same thing right now. My kitchen is wood flooring, walls and ceiling. It's to much wood and it really darkens the room. We really want to change it but don't want white wash and don't want to hassle with drywall right now so it continues to sit as is.

Winter Shooting Sheds...Anybody got any?
Moho81 replied to Doc's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Like @airedale said above. As long as the muzzle is outside the window you won't notice it being any louder epically with hearing protection. I have shot a few deer out of elevated blinds (think of a shed in the air) and I have never noticed a difference. -
NewYork Bill Banning Out Of State Ammo Sales

I never made it out today I just did not have it in me. The weekend was a mess. Saturday morning when I left my house I accidentally left my toiletry bag at home which I didn't realize until after I took my contacts out and tossed them. So Sunday morning instead of hunting I went back to bad because I cant see a damn thing without glasses or contacts. Then the slide motor on my 2020 camper took a dump so I had to crawl under that and manually bring it in. Not a huge deal but annoying none the less. My wife was with me at camp but we both had our vehicles their so she drove my truck with the camper hooked up and we went back today to get her car. It was a fitting end to a crap season. Tag soup for me.

Mine was awful for the second year in a row. It was so bad I don't even want to look back in my journal to see how much time I spent in the woods. The only good weekend I had was during the youth deer hunt. My daughter and I saw a lot of deer and she put a shot into a buck that by the reaction of the buck looked good but after waiting a couple of hours to go look there was no sign of hair or blood in the field where he was standing. We went to where he entered the woods and found 3 tiny drops of blood and nothing else. I still have 1.5 days to hunt the late holiday season but I really have no expectations of getting a deer. I just want to hunt so I can say I never gave up.

I'm a heart/lung guy sure I have had them go a ways before dropping but finding and following a blood trail was never an issue with the gun at least. I know quite a few people that like either the shoulder or neck shot just to put them down where they stand.

Muzzleloader Opener In The Southern Zone 2023
Moho81 replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Muzzleloaders
My thought, they feel less vulnerable to predators on their feet already vs. bedded down. I have nothing to back it up other than things I've observed over the years. -

Sometimes I think they tend to be moving more in the wind because their hearing is compromised. Only a guess but I think they get nervous if they can't hear well so they move around. Of course this also means they are probably on a higher alert than normal. -

I spoke to soon. We almost forgot about my one daughters play practice Saturday morning so now both have things going on Saturday morning at the same time. Time for my wife and I to divide and conquer. -
Muzzleloader Opener In The Southern Zone 2023
Moho81 replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Muzzleloaders
Our tree is up and decorated, 99% of the gifts have been purchased, the 23rd is the big baking day (not that I am a part of it) and as far as I know we don't have any other plans for this weekend so I'm hoping to be out all weekend and at least fill one tag. -
What Do You Add To Your Venison Burger?
Moho81 replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
Just venison for the meat. I'll typically add egg and breadcrumbs to help bind the meat together so it does not fall apart while grilling. -
Muzzleloader Opener In The Southern Zone 2023

I did it for the first time when they made that special holiday season but I find it very hard to actually get out this late in the season with everything going on for the holidays and have kids. -
Well despite the weather I saw deer. I caught a buck crossing the open field 400 yards away. Then a little while later 3 doe came out at the same spot. The lead doe the obviously bigger of the three went right into the woods while the other 2 hung back and fed. I really could not get a good sense of how big they where through the 3x9 scope so I didn't take a shot.
