  1. Do you hit it with a little nitrogen a couple weeks before you harvest?
  2. Yeah a little but they could use more time. I just wanted to see the progress. I read that I should wait for a dry week if possible before I harvest them, is that correct?
  3. I know I know it's to early to pull garlic but it's my first time, everything goes so fast your first time I had to pull out, at least one. Decent size, was very close to another bulb so I'm hoping the others will be bigger and last longer as I go. Please nobody laugh at my small garlic, I'm a little self conscious.
  4. First peppers of the year, Hungarian Wax and they have plenty of kick. Deer was kicking my fence last night trying to get at my sunflowers. Yellow squash is almost there hopefully about a week out.
  5. Best pitcher in baseball is dealing. Just needs to stay healthy.
  6. Can't believe how well the brussel sprouts are doing, they give me such a hard time germinating but once they get going they have been super easy. Even though the flea beetles did damage to all my eggplant they are starting to produce. The asian eggplant is ahead of italian. Marigolds just starting to show their colors as of yesterday. Carrots, potatoes, and garlic should be ready in two weeks. Peppers really slowed their progress the last week, I do have four or five Hungarian Wax peppers I could pull but I want to see if they will change colors.
  7. Thanks for posting the steak chart Biz, tenderloin was perfect. Beef tenderloin, brined and grilled chicken breast, grilled scapes, potato salad, mushrooms and some stupid veggie my wife makes me eat. Scape pesto on chicken was pretty darn good. Ice cold coca cola not pictured, hope their stock doesn't go down.
  8. I dont think the fawn made it. No pics with mom in three days.
  9. It's freaking cold up here 44 at the moment! I had four pults fly right at me while walking my clover plot. I backed out of course and listened to them go crazy for a couple minutes. Cut about 30 saplings for shooting lanes. Briers are insane, couldnt even get to the area I wanted. Last time I was up a bear got spooked (spooked me more) about 20 yards from me. No bear pictures though hmmmm. Also found wild strawberries, there are 100s I'm gonna do some picking tomorrow.
  10. Wow that's awesome! Way cleaner then my garden. How many counties do you feed with all that zucchini? Do you can any?
  11. Everything is doing well. Sunflowers are coming in a little slower then last year but look good. Banana peppers are almost ready, carrots and brussel sprouts in the background are doing awesome. I need to thin the carrots. If the weather man was ever correct it would help me know when to fertilize. Wasn't there a weather guy from Philly that was on this site a while ago?
  12. Not to answer for Biz but I'm trying this on a couple of mine this year. I tie twine to the top of the cage which allows (in theory) the plant to grow vertically and increases air flow which hopefully stops powdery mildew. I don't know if it means much but the plant I did this with already has zucchini the others don't with exact same conditions. I also read it helps pollinators but I think the powdery mildew theory makes more sense. I'll send a picture soon.
  13. My wife is in Cape Cod, she was very happy with her meal. Me, I'm having boiled potatoes after cutting the grass and picking weeds all day, get married they say.........
  14. Cut scapes off my garlic today, got about 35 of them. I'm going to attempt to make scape pesto with basil that was grown in a solo cup. Looks like my Hungarian wax peppers should be ready in less then a week for my first pepper harvest of the year. Potatoes are starting to flower, I just need to keep putting DE on them so the flea beetles stay under control. Iceberg and romaine lettuce going very strong.
  15. One groundhog and one coon so far. My seven month old coonhound had fun today. Deer broke into my larger garden (didn't eat anything) so I will be raising my fence to 8ish feet today. Soooooo many deer in my yard I need a nuisance permit.
  16. Whether the spelling was done on purpose or not I find this very funny.
  17. Potatoes are coming in very well, russet and fingerling. Iceberg lettuce really took off this week. Peppers are booming, eggplant is struggling with flea beetles. Threw some DI on everything hopefully that solves the issue for now.
  18. Yeah well I did that with mine and I've found about 8 ticks already between my two dogs. Called the company and asked for my money back.
  19. I've got peppers! Plant seems very hardy so far. Carmen sweet red pepper from Johnny Seeds.
  20. Not those. Started them at least a month ago.
  21. Lettuce is ready. 80s next couple days here. My soil retains lots of water, so my pepper plants will go out tomorrow.
  22. Nothing below mid 40s by me in the future at night. Potatoes are just coming in, garlic looks good. I put some peppers and eggplant in the ground today. I had flowers on eggplant and peppers so hopefully it will deal with these cool temps and I'll get an early harvest.
