How to Use moving water as a highway
Northcountryman replied to Northcountryman's topic in Deer Hunting
I noticed last season that one of the major crossing points for the deer jus happened to be across an old logging road or trail that abutted the stream. It was old and very faint--couldnt see it that well at all with the naked eye from the main road unless you actually got in there; but there it was, and made alot of sense that they were often using that spot as their main crossing point cuz it wasnt as steep and much smoother to walk. It never ceases to amaze how deer are--like people--kinda lazy and , when they are afforded the choice, will select the easiest routes to traverse that require far less effort. -
How to Use moving water as a highway

I know, it is a pretty tall order, thats why the guys in my club thought it would be too difficult, but I think its worth a try, at least. I think what I would do is scout it out real good this spring vis fishing excrusions and figure out stretches that provide easier access and travel. I DONT see my self traipsing up the creek for miles on end , but perhaps, could do roughly 1/2-1 mile here and there if practicable. What would be cool is to find some spots and lay down pins on myapp to erect a climber at different point along the stream that look productive. Then , before the season, I would bring my climber in and chain to a nearby tree across the stream and adjacent to several different spots so that I didnt have to lug it across the water each and every time. My thoughts are it would provide a faster and more stealthy approach to my spots while scounting AND hunting--until I fall on my ass and get soaking wet that is!! lol -
Yeah, I havent gotten a chance to watch the whole thing yet , but will try to do so today. I have a feeling that ultimately, nothing will come of all this anyway because the democrats are way too powerful and now control governement , media and academia--the pillars of power requisite to establish and maintain a coverup. They can and will do this because , simply put, they can shape, control and regulate information--that which is perceived as "the truth"-- disseminated to, and received by , the populace. Thus, they "make " reality so to speak. Very Orwellian and very scary whats happening currently...

Many times during this past season, I sat in my stand wondering if the stream that I regulary crossed to get to one of my "spots" could potentially be an excellent entry and exit route to explore some other nearby areas. A few times, I actually did wade into the stream to follow some tracks along a fairly well-traveled route used by a family group of does, but I never actually tried to walk directly up or downstream in the water for an extended period of time. I did mention my thoughts to a few of the "Elders" in my club but they advised against pursuing that course or strategy, saying that I would likely fall and either get hurt and/or damage my gun and thta it wouldnt be worth it. Based on their advice, I shelved the idea but am thinking maybe they're being overly cautious and it might be productive, afterall. The stream itself is no more than like 10-15 ft wide and is approximately 2 feet deep, maximum--in most places, less. It is a little rocky here-and-there but I've negotiated far more precarious waterways when fishing. My idea is to slip in and walk upstream using a walking stick -- gun carried slung over shoulder , backpack and all--to stalk stealthily, and efficiently , thereby covering more territory in the process. what do you think?

Glad it helped !! I did it usually a couple times a day for a good five minutes . Also , another thing you can do is put your hand on top of the fingers of your afflicted arm and apply a gentle force downward. Then, push against this force back and upward to, once again, “ undo” the repetitive motion that caused the pain in the first place .

Yeah , I noticed !! Lol

Sorry , I meant Squirrels !! Lol

Really , so you think it’ll make a significant difference if I go early am Then instead ?I never had to before , but you may have a point . Also , Sit and watch for awhile ? Why , cuz of the snow? Note : I have hunted deer my whole life but NEVER tried for them in the winter , always In early fall in full foliage !!

Itchin to get outside after bein holed up in the house since Christmas , so I decided to go out for a walk w/ my .22 and see if I could bag me a few squirrels. Walked around for about an hour and a half and saw ABOLUTELY NOTHING (well, except for 2 in-flight birds lol)!! It was wierd because the woods were eerily quiet and notwithstanding a few coyote and rabbit tracks, no signs of life whatsoever. I went to a trail where I had marked several nests back in the fall and noted mutltiple still intact, but again, nothing!! What gives? Guess I May have to go up to Sullivan next week to bag a few...

Yes, a link would be great, if possible.

I agree with your analysis, but disagree that he will be found guilty. My call is votes to convict remain trhe same as the intital vote on constitutionality of the entire process: 56-44 with the same 6 Republican "Traitors" voting to convict w/ the Dems. Without the requisite 2/3, he will , thus, be acquitted. It is ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that he is NOT GUILTY of incitement of a riot, pure and simple. Read the speech--case over .

Yeah, I heard this was being proposed; has it been passed, then? Hope so!!
-
Yeah, I'd go with bait this time of year; water's so cold right now, theyre not gonna be interested in much else IMHO. Are you fishing from shore?
-
Oh yeah? Have you been out for Walleye lately? Whatre yu using right now for them? Minnows on a jig? I wouldnt imagine theyd be too aggressive right now w/ water temps bein so cold.
-
Dan, its going to be very hard for you to go up to Oswego and fish without waders--trust me, especially for Steelhead. I would wait a little bit if I were you--too cold right now. From what I've been told by locals, early Aprils prime for Oswego AND the Salmon.

I fear that the double impeachment trials orchestrated by the Left sets a precedent that essentially weaponizes it in order to control and manipulate future Presidents, especially Republicans. Historically, impeachment has been an exceedingly rare perogative invoked by the House; in fact, prior to Trumps presidency, its been used only 2 other times , although Nixon would have clearly been impeached had he not resigned prior. And now, Congress has inoked impeachement twice in 2 years!! A little out of control , dont you think? And you know, this brings up another issue: IF the Democrats are right and they're impeachment of Trump this time is constitutional and valid, then should the congress have impeached Nixon back in 1974, even after he had resigned?? I mean, if you follow their logic, then why the hell not?

Pelosi's Great Wall

Yeah, thats what I thought too. -
Yeah, its tennis elbow, no doubt. Ive had that in both arms off and on over the years--both from lifting and flyfishing. What you can do is do exercises to stretch the tendons using the opposite motion to relieve the pain. Stand with your back to a table and place your afflicted arm, behind you on the table. Then, turn your palm right-side up so your knucles are touching the table-top. Push down with your fingers so that youre attempting to push your habd up away from the table in a reverse-like motion--this will relieve the pressure.

Yes, of course, but not a comparable analogy Mike. The issue here is whether the Senate has jurisdiction to impeach a government official--in this case the Prez-- after they have left office when one of the consequences of a conviction clearly spelled out in the constitution is removal from office. Since that point is moot and, based on the precedent established in th blount case, I say they cannot as they no longer have jurisdiction for adjudication of the matter.

Yes, awesome birds. they have a very nice disposition and bring cheer to everything and everyone around them
