  1. Dialed in pretty good. Got my release pattern down. The nice thing about the react sight group it at 20 and 30 its preset out to however many marks I have. The wider group is at 50 tighter group is at 60. Bow is shooting great and arrows are flying great.
  2. I've always had my best hunts around the 7th. My vote is the 7-15.
  3. Bows all done. Arrows ended up at a final weight of 436 and flying at 263fps. Yes we ran the arrows through a chrono. Got home warmed up and this group is at 22yrds 3 arrows.
  4. Tell me about it he said it's shooting great just need to shoot it with my arrows to make sure everything is all good.
  5. Just got the call bows all done. Going tomorrow afternoon to finalize arrows and set kisser button. But I should be good to go and start shooting.
  6. Welcome. I've never hunted the Catskill mountain area and someone may correct me on this but I would make sure you have a compass and know how to use it. Good luck this year.
  7. I actually asked her again yesterday what she wanted. She just laughed. Luckily I married a good woman who doesn't like playing games. It is fun joking about it with her.
  8. Thanks, same here first decent doe is getting an arrow sent it's way.
  9. Yes phade it is the world's smallest microwave and I love my react sight. Crappy no weed jar in the house. Well won't say no my wife is a wanna be hippie so who knows. Lol
  10. It's here. Taking it to the shop in about 10 mins. Very happy I went with the KUIU Verde camo.
  11. For you that do hunt bears. What's the chance this bear stays in the area? I know they have a huge home range. Just wondering.
  12. I saw one other one years ago at about 40 yards and this one was a lot bigger than that. My guess was 200-300 lbs I know it's a big range but I really don't think it's smaller than 200 and deff not bigger than 300. Wish my phone took a better picture. But yes by far my best encounter ever in the woods. If he comes in when im deer hunting I'm shooting at it.
  13. Full story is in my public land posts. So I had an encounter with this guy he was within 10yards at one point. Sorry about the crappy pictures he had a big head and his stomache was sagging pretty good . Last picture is him dropping into the stream i was planning on going into when i saw him. But is he a big bear?
  14. There was also a lot of good deer sign so ill be in there to hunt.
  15. The spot I looked at for my friend had some pretty decent sign. It's a very tiny chunk of stateland maybe 10acres off the main piece. It looks like the deer are pinched between a main road and a cliff. Had old rubs in the little punch that leads to a swamp on private. Now for the best thing thats happens to me in the woods. I ran to a spot i was looking at that looked good from a topo and aerial map. So I went in scouting a point that leads to a swamp. So as I was finishing I was going to cross a stream and head out. As I got to the bank I heard a stick snap and could hear something walking. When I looked up all I could see was a leg move but noticed it was pretty large and dark. It took two steps and out steps a very large bear huge head belly was sagging.(at least I think so). It continues walking none the wiser im on the same trail it's on. It gets within 10yards still not knowing I'm there do I yelled at it. Just stops takes 2 more steps and I yell again. I finally got its attention and it ran off to 25 yards and stood there for 2-3 mins. So I took a couple pictures. He then stood up my guess was to look at me better so I decided to put the phone down and screamed and clapped my hands and it finally ran about 40 yards and walked away. Sorry for the bad pictures my phone sucks. First picture is when it was heading right at me. Second is when he was just watching me. Is he a big bear?
  16. Thought I was done scouting. A friend called me yesterday to see if I could go scout a piece for him since he was swamped with farm work and driving truck. So up and out already this morning heading in to check it out.
  17. Yes my long time hunting buddy. At the range for bow or gun he will out shoot me everyday. Comes down to hunting I've got him. I know why he rushes the shot but I can't ever get him to slow down.
  18. I will say I've seen a ton of bear sign in 7p this year. My brother had a mom and cub cross in front of him in green. Heard of a couple other solos around green. My parents have a problem bear in Norwich. Seems like the population exploded in this area the last 2 years.
  19. This at your property in 7p? I've seen a lot of deer on the way home. A couple nice bucks around Greene on 12.
  20. Did the last of my scouting today unless some friends want some help. I put out 2 cameras in known travel areas and buck spots that have a lot of rubs by middle of September. Going to let them soak until the season. Ones in a place that I know doesn't get hunted it's really over looked even by me until I checked it out this year I will most likely hunt it early if wind permits because it's loaded with acorns. The other i probably won't hunt until the rut.
  21. Not bad for a first time garden here. Wasn't sure I got it tilled up enough only using a pickaxe and a shovel. But it's cucumbers, jalapenos, green peppers in first row, peas, then 2 rows of bean, squash and 2 rows of sweet corn.
  22. 7 for me would be 6 but my one night stand ended up being my wife. Lol
  23. I switched to a Magnus this year. I added 100 upfront in weight and 100 grain broadhead. I have a 340 spine cut to 29inch. Granted this was for my old bow. Hoping it won't be to big of a difference when my new one gets set up. But I only built 4 so no huge loss.
  24. I would say to try and find one if possible closer to 150. You could probably find a good used one. I bought this tasco its 1.5×4 I believe. I think I picked it up for around 100 and sits on my Mossberg 500 20gauge. It's held up to sabots recoil and 3inch turkey loads. I don't know it it will hold up to a 12gauge. It also doesn't get taken out much. My 30-06 is my main deer gun and I like my single shot 20 for turkey and small game.
  25. First pick of the year. Beans are coming in great, peas came in good but wont last long with my local doe. squash is flowered and some actually growing, corns knee high, cucumber and peppers are coming in the slowest.
