  1. Thinking last night/today who I would dedicate this season to. It was easy I have 2. 1) my father who is losing his battle quickly to dementia and it's getting to the point that this maybe the last year I could share memories and tell him stories about my hunts and he may have a chance to remember them. 2) would be a good friend of mine. He just left at about 10pm yesterday so 3 hrs ago to head to Afghanistan. He's been with me on both of my biggest buck kills. We actually joked yesterday I'll end up having to take a spike with my new bow because he's not around for me to kill a big one. It'll be weird not hunting with him this year. However couldn't be more proud to have him as a friend. Who would your person be? Old or current hunting buddies, friend, family members, maybe a mentor of yours over the years?
  2. That's really cool. It would be neat to see how it grows different from it's sibling.
  3. All ordered up and now time to wait. Can't wait to see and start shooting. It should be here by end of this week early next.
  4. Can't wait to get it. Talked to ron again over the weekend he's going to set me up great. It'll leave that shop ready to hunt. I'm really pumped for this season now. Not going to know what to do with such a nice bow.
  5. I'll be using my trophy ridge react one sight from last year. Love the single pin. I'll also be using a qad pro series drop away I've had laying around. With my thumb release I purchased last year. In buying the matching quiver and stabilizer for it. Seeing how I won't buy a new bow for a along time I went all out.
  6. Ordering it tomorrow going with KUIU Verde. For you that don't know this is the Verde pattern. I like different looking bows and I really like the Verde for some reason.
  7. Well I made the decision I'm going with the ritual 33. Gives me that longer bow I'm after but being a little shorter than the 35. I know it's only 2 inches but I wanted one around 31-33 ata. Now to decide on the color I'm torn between the ninja black and the KUIU colors. I wouldnt mind any of them reall all there colors are great and the detail in the camo is awesome. The graphite gray is nice also saw that on a kure at the bow shop.
  8. I'm fine. My wife and my mother may have drank enough to drown a whale. So they are nursing the hangovers.
  9. Daughter turns 10 sunday so we decided to give her an early present. He's 10 weeks old got him for free. She's already named him oliver. Not the best picture but he likes moving.
  10. That's what I'm leaning towards more then the valor. The enlist is nice but that draw weight and i cant seem to find 60lb limbs but by the time i find the limbs and buy the bow could probably just get the ritual.
  11. Went today to shoot the bows. Ember was what I was eye balling but that's off the table isn't what I was looking for. I shot another valor and I'm not sure what the difference was between the 2 I shot but it felt smoother then the one I shot Tuesday. Then he had an enlist sitting there for pretty cheap. Problem was it has 70lb limbs. It shot great very smooth draw I just don't no how long my shoulder can handle it. Granted I can get it down to close to 60lbs. If it had 60 or 50lbs limbs it would be home with me. Still not sure I want that shorter axle bow of the valor. He didn't end up having a 33 I was hoping for. Time to think about what route I want to go.
  12. Hoping to shoot the 33 Thursday
  13. Nope all the stateland I hunt is within 20mins of me. Just going to be more aggressive. If i see an uptick in pressure because more people are out i will just need to adjust and find that out of the way spot. My opening day of gun spot is off the beaten trail and 1.5miles in. It will keep people away and push the deer to me. Hope for early does 6pt or better for gun or bow which is usually a 2yr old or better in my area. However if its a small 6 it may get a pass because i have 50hrs of vacation planned from Halloween to thanksgiving. If it comes down to the last day and i have tags anything legal will get it.
  14. Yea I've heard nothing but great things and when I went last time he's was very diligent with everything.
  15. On rte. 8 i believe it's been 5 years since I've been but it was at his house. Last time I was there he sold obsession and elite but I think I heard he's a Mathews and elite dealer now.
  16. I asked her about 100 times what the catch was. She just said I deserved it. But that was my first thought what's the catch. I even asked her if it was a joke it's a sick one I would rather her pull the old I'm pregnant joke. Guess there's only one way to find out. But the bow and wait.
  17. I did run to a shop yesterday real quick to shoot two bows. The valor was nice but my shoulder didn't like it much at 60lbs. Then I decided to shoot the ritual 35 because I've never shot that long of a bow. It was also set at 60 and that was the nicest shooting bow I've ever shot. Just way to long for me and the crap I tend to hunt in. Hoping the 33 doesn't seem so big.
  18. I THINK I'M GETTING SETUP.lol So i got a text message from my wife this morning saying one of her good friends husband just bought a elite valor. She said it made her upset that since he's only been hunting for 2 years and I've been for 20 i should have a nice bow for once.(mind you i dont care what he shoots and not sure why she cares but won't argue with her about it). Not sure if I just got setup but she gave me the green light to go buy one as long as it doesn't break the bank. So I'll be going Thursday to a local shop in Morris to shoot what he's got and probably place an order through my sister and just have him set it up. I'll be looking at the valor, ember and ritual 33. I'll also be looking at the 50-60 lb range. Any extra info would be great. Thanks
  19. Sorry to hear grampy. Sending thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Now your brother can rest in piece.
  20. I've had my trophy ridge react for 2 years and I'll never go back to a multi pin. I set it for 25yrds so I'm good from 0-30. My brother just bought one as well. Not sure which one he got.
  21. Went out again to find a couple more spots and I found some really good sign. Seems like they are very over looked spots and I've never seen anyone in these sections personally. I found a lot of beds, and rubs that ran along the base of a hill that turned out to be a little orchard between the steep hill and swamp. You can tell they are in yhis spot all year. Trails down to dirt rubs everywhere and fresh beds. Which i couldnt see tell from my phone. So we will be hunting there. We will also be able to have to people on each end of the swamp to catch them coming out or into private ag fields. The other spot was a lost cause we went right instead of left so we ended up .75 miles down the ridge the wrong way. By the time we got back to where I wanted to go I didn't see the sign I was hoping for. I might try it once or twice but it may be a gun walking spot. Did find a deadbeat on a trail with his antlers cutoff.
  22. Got my arrows setup flying good. Total arrow weight is at 525 right about what I was hoping for. 225 grains up front. Field point with bare shaft Fletched also tried my broadheads they all flew great. Picture is from 15 yrds shot.
  23. Me and kiddo went swimming in the lake today. She caught a rare sight of a fat guy in a donut floaty with 2 cans of labbats and half a kayak oar to get back to shore. Going fishing later when my brother and nephew come up. Post some pictures that won't scare the children.
  24. There's a deer in that second picture. Walked up on her but picture didnt come out good.
