  1. Mostly during the summer months and in post season on food sources...
  2. All of these pics are from the same property. The funny thing is that there is almost no form of QDM being practiced in this area...these guys have just managed to get by on their own. At last count I believe I had pics of 10 bucks at this particular property that were 3.5 or older and several nice 2.5's too. Hopefully, a bunch of these deer are still roaming the woods. I can't wait to start shed hunting in a few weeks...
  3. I've still got both bucks tags in my pocket...one for each of them!
  4. He's big alright, but at least 2 feet short of scoring 219...
  5. Saw the buck in my avatar bedded out in a picked cornfield on the way home from work tonight (with spotlight)!!! This is the first time that I've seen him since mid-September. I've been hunting him all gun season just hoping to catch him leaving the anti-hunter neighbor's woods to come feed in the cloverfield that I'm set up on. So far he's been a no show. Hadn't heard of anyone killing him so I was hopeful that he was still around. Anyways, I'm super excited to see him alive and well. Maybe he'll make a mistake before the 20th. If not, hopefully I can snag his sheds (got one of them from last year). Dang, he'll be a monster next year...
  6. Here are a few real world examples of antler growth over consecutive years on several bucks that I have history with. I consider them to be average deer for this area of WNY with average genetics and access to average agricultural crops (no soybeans within miles)... Yearling to 2 year old growth (hopefully these two are still alive...they could be a couple of awesome looking bucks next year): Jump from 2 to 3 (wish this guy would have made it for another year): 3 Jump from 3 to 4: Sadly, some scumbag poached this guy @1:30 AM last November 2nd...
  7. Well said. That's the entire story in a nutshell. Period. They don't go from "buttons" to "booners" in one year's time. Even in Iowa!!!
  8. I sure would like to see some better pics of that bruiser!!!
  9. As long as everything is done within context of the state game laws...I agree.
  10. nyantler is just being sarcastic...
  11. He knows how to avoid my trailcams it seems. Despite having two cams set up for the past 5 months, I've only managed to get pics of him on 4 occasions since the end of July. He just seems to have a move reclusive "personality" than the other bucks on the farm...
  12. I think he's every bit of 150...long G1's, 2's, 3's, heavy mass and very symmetrical. Kinda short of his G4's but who cares!!! As is usually the case, a few pics. doesn't do him justice. Actually, just stopped by to throw the tape on him and the head is already as the taxidermist.
  13. Believe me, no one in the area passed him up due to a busted up rack if that's what you mean? The only two deer killed on this farm so far are a spike and a buttonbuck. I believe that he has gotten through season by being nocturnal and hiding out on the neighbors. Not one trailcam pic. of him since 9/7 and not a single sighting since 10/1...he's like a ghost. I can't imagine what he's going to act like as he matures. It has really made my season seeing him again!!!
  14. UPDATE: He's still alive!!! Saw him tonight on the way home from work (with spotlight). His rack is totally jacked up...he's missing everything from his G2's foward and only has a piece of one drop left. Other than that, he appears to be as healthy as ever. Keep on hiding for the next three weeks little buddy...can't wait to see you next year as a three year old!!!
  15. I'm certain that is a wild, free-ranging NY deer. The game farm comment that I made earlier was intended to be a joke. I've seen antlers of the color with lack of beading before, just not a set this big.
  16. Love me some predator camo!!! Actually, I tend to alternate back and forth between the Predator and Mossy Oak... Fall grey for bowhunting... Spring green for gobbler hunting...
  17. As far as I know, the one in my avatar is still out there. Just need some cold weather for him to come out of the anti-hunter neighbor's block of woods and in to the cloverfield where I've been hunting during daylight hours.
  18. Really white antlers...very little beading on the bases as well. Game farm buck maybe...lol???!!! The guys who dropped it off said that there were 2 or 3 more like this one running around the property too...
  19. I believe it was from Yates actually.
  20. I heard that the local processor had a nice one dropped off this morning. Decided to drive over and check him out. I wasn't disappointed when I pulled into the drive and saw this big dude laying there...
  21. My cousin killed this sup-par genetic 3.5 year old 7-pt. on saturday... Found out that there was a 20" 11-pt and two nice 8's taken on some winery property that I hunt on saturday too...
