Awesome card pull from new cam...

I can't believe how the deer seem to be drawn to the IR flash of the cam (2016 Browning Strike Force). It's definately not scaring them!!! Especially this guy!!! -

Second card pull at this cloverfield reveals plenty of daylight activity...both buck and doe. I will be putting a stand up this week about 80 yds to the left of the camera. I have never had a cam set provide so many daylight pics...maybe drought related? Should be a great place to catch one of the shooters during early season while they are still in the late summer feeding patterns. Couple of new bucks... Here comes my boy... -
The one I'm most interested in (pics are from the 8th...oats were cut the 9th). Only captured pics of him one other time this summer. He doesn't hang out with the bachelor group and appears to be following the same routine as last year's bow buck. He's near the top of the hitlist for Oct 1...

Here are some interesting individuals... Would this be considered a droptine? Fibroma buck. His right G2 was broken but healed still attached and was growing down like a droptine... Looks like a mulie... Neat grooming sequence...

I've been watching this bachelor group feeding in a friend's newly planted 30 acre alfalfa field all summer long but had yet to get any pics of the group together. Finally, a repositioning of the cam last week to a heavily used ditch crossing payed off. Some nice up and comers in bunch. Coming to bed... Bucks in a row...

It's gonna be a toss between this spot and where I killed my buck on 10/2 last year. The deer are really hammering the alfalfa there right now. Guess, the wind will determine where I go... -

I'm having that exact problem at another spot right now (30 acre alfalfa field)...it's got more bucks than any area I have but they keep skipping my cams. Not much you can do other than be patient. The area in the pics isn't that big. There's a 2 acre marsh behind the cam where the deer are bedding, it's all cattail and scrubby stuff. Off to the left there is a small woodlot. The cam is on a point that juts out where I've been watching them come out all summer. They tend to feed along the edge of the brush. I'm right on the brush line so the deer you see aren't in the middle of a big fieldthere are right on the edge of cover. Like I mentioned, it took six days to get them on cam. -

Never hunted in your end of the county. These deer are 8R. Been seeing lots of good bucks this year despite the drought! -

Just remembered this buck that I got on a scrape on a neighboring property a couple years back. Looks like it could be the same deer? -

Region 8 There is another bachelor group hanging out on this farm just up the road with a couple of beautiful 10's. Wish I could get pics of them but I'm only going to concentrate on this one spot because my uncle hunts there. He killed this buck back in '13 in the field that my cam is set in... -

Would like to get a closer look at this guy. He appears to be a 2 or 3 year old with some great potential. Possibly a shooter? -
I've been watching several nice bucks all summer coming out of a marshy little wetland area at my best shed hunting farm. I finally bought a new Browning Trail Cam and set it up to get a closer look last week. It took 6 days...but the boys finally showed yesterday evening. There were no trees to mount the camera on where I wanted to put it so it's set up on a threaded stake right in the cloverfield where they've been coming out. It's pretty funny to see their reaction when they notice the plastic box hovering in the air and come closer to check it out. This one in particular peaks my interest. Love those big brows!!! He's not a high scorer by any means but he has a huge body and I believe that he's at least 5 years old based on the fact that he resided in the same area last year too. He sure looks like a fully mature buck with that big old roman nose... Shooter #2, he's definately got some good mass and lots of character!!! Couple of nice young bucks...

Good surprise on the card pull!

I am positive that the '16 and '15 bucks are the same deer. Not too sure about the '14 version. It would be nice to get an updated pic of him this year!!! -
I recently put a couple of cams up on a friend's property in hopes of finding a target to go after in the early season. I actually killed my buck here last year on October 2nd. This year the field was planted in alfalfa and I thought it would be a deer magnet. Needless to say, the crop has been struggling with the dry conditions. Hopefully, it will start taking off with the rain we just had and what we are supposed to get over the weekend. Anyways, nothing huge has turned up yet but about 12 different bucks on the cams so far... Borderline shooters...think both are one year away from being tagworthy. Not sure if this is a different buck? Extreme closeups...

At this point, a bad winter could have some serious impact on the deer herd...no summer food = no winter food.

The cam scene has been slow lately. Finally, Wannabe ( 5 years old) showed back up twice over the past few mornings. The last pics of him were on 6/10... He's looking good despite the abnormally dry conditions. The frame is set, now comes the tine/beam growth... Looks like he'll have a typical 5x4 frame...good mass...shorter G2's but longer G3's than in '15. I can't wait to see him in another month. July 8th last year... What he turned into...

Awesome pics. I really need to get a DSLR to carry in the truck with me!!!

No poult sightings yet despite seeing numerous hens? Although I've been hearing of other people seeing them. It's a strange phenomenon, seems like only a fraction of the hen pop is actually fertile? It's not good.

Congrats on the wedding! Nice mount...Whitetail Creations, right?

Not too sure about deer hunting in FL, but I would like to get down there one of these springs to try to kill an osceola gobbler and maybe a few pigs too... Good luck in your endeavors!

Nice!!! I'm remodeling my house right now and am converting a couple of rooms into taxidermy studio so I can take in some deer this fall...
