Little windy out...Not terrible though. Just checked the cam under my stand, had 5 does snacking on clover right under me at 6:20 last night. I'm waiting on Brows to show up but a fat doe @ 10 yds may be too tempting. There's plenty of room in the freezer yet. I won't get out again til Tuesday morning.

Just got to my spot at 5:30 and found the farmer chopping the clover. Had to haul arse and run to my backup spot on the neighboring farm. Not expecting much...way too warm and sunny.

It's been a recurring theme so far!!! Happened again on the 2nd and 3rd...both less than 10 yds from a stand. Luckily, the season is still young and it hasn't be been one of the big boys yet.

Way to go!!!

Buck down!!! I smelled something dead while hanging a stand a few hours ago...did some searching and ended up finding this guy...car must have gotten him.

Score another for the knock-offs...15 yd shot...pinned her to a tree with the pass through...she snapped the head off (it was firmly embedded in the tree)...went less than 40 yds and crashed.

No, they aren't barbed. I believe the Rage 3 bladed heads are illegal though.

Both of these does were taken last year with the "fake" Chinese hypos...both died within sight. I have a quiver full of them ready to rock this weekend!!!

That's a beauty. He's gotta be pushing 150 gross. Only got him on cam once?

Between my wife and I we had 8 permits for 8R last year. I think that I filled two. This new freezer is for my taxidermy business and will be storing capes. Maybe a little meat too depending on how the season goes...

No worries about tag soup recipe yet...the freezer is new out of the box and the tags aren't valid until saturday!!!

What a pitiful sight: 18 cu. ft of emptiness...

Without a doubt...

One way or the other the meat has to get processed

I shot her last friday, so I would consider her a fall deer. From what I can tell, she tastes as good as any other doe that I've eaten...lol -

I'd be happy to give you a hand. -

Without a doubt, the BEST knife that I've ever used in butchering a deer is a Rapala fillet knife...it stays sharp WAY longer than any butchering knife that I've used. I'll never use anything else. Just finished up putting a nuisance permit doe in the freezer... -

Nothing to butchering a deer...been doing it since I was old enough to hold a knife. I would never pay $75 to get it done!!!
