  9. you created a username called lionsandtigers, and all you do is post about mountain lions.
  10. Shawn, Since we met in real-life, are we "real-friends"? lol. I've fished with a few WF members, never hunted with anyone.
  11. I have no reason to be audited, but if I was I would fill in the blank with "45"
  12. Since you enjoy building, I agree with everything you guys are saying. Also, I didn't know you were 15. I think it's great you are into hunting. I don't have 1 "non-forum, real-life" friend who hunts.
  13. I know multiple guys who shoot compounds 80-100lb+. They take game (Mule Deer, Antelope, and Elk) out past 100 yards many times. You want to shoot 100 yards? Man up, and draw more weight and start practicing. No reason why you can't shoot whitetails at 100 yards in an open food plot with a compound. Go hunt in the Midwest and tell them you can't shoot past 40 yards and everyone will laugh at you.
  14. If you are building this because you enjoy building, I understand. If you are building this to "save $" in comparison to buying a led sled, I don’t agree. The Caldwell Led Sled's range from $50-$300 in price. Let's just say $150 gets you what you want. You need to buy supplies to build something similar. But more importantly, how much is your time worth? Again if you enjoy building than I get it. Otherwise, you need to factor in how many hours of your time you will be spending. If the $150 gives you what you want, think of it another way. Would you pay $3 to use a led sled when your shooting? Are you going to use this led sled 50+times in your life? Right there, its paid for.
  15. I have receipt, which lists the foodbank. Pounds processed is blank. I think 45lb @ $5/lb is fair. $225. I itemize. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  16. I plan to just do $225 ($5/lb.) since anything $250 or more you have to provide additional info. A donor claiming a deduction of $250 or more is also required to obtain and keep a contemporaneous written acknowledgment for a charitable contribution . To be contemporaneous the written acknowledgment must generally be obtained by the donor no later than the date the donor files the return for the year the contribution is made. The written acknowledgment must state whether the donee provides any goods or services in consideration for the contribution. If the donee provides goods or services to the donor in exchange for the contribution (a quid pro quo contribution), the written acknowledgment must include a good faith estimate of the value of the goods or services. The donee is not required to record or report this information to the IRS on behalf of a donor. The donor is responsible for requesting and obtaining the written acknowledgement from the donee. Although there is no prescribed format for the written acknowledgment, it must provide sufficient information to substantiate the amount of the contribution. For more information, see Publication 1771.
  17. Yea, trying to figure out how to do it through turbotax.
  18. I have the receipt from the butcher which lists the foodbank where they donate the meat. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  19. "thanks again. this also reaffirms the fact that a crossbow is less challenging than a compound or recurve. You can shoot "my deer" all you want right now. Get a bow, practice and get in the woods." What's your point? The Xbow is less challenging than the compound. The Compound is less challenging than a recurve. We are both opting for an easier weapon choice but not choosing the Recurve. Shooting a gun with a scope is easier than a gun without one, right? and I bet you use a scope.
  20. So I assume I put the foodbank that the butcher I use, sends the meet to, right? Then how much $ do I put? Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  21. You can use rifles in putnam when deer seasons are over. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  22. The receipt says: "cash donation(s), processing fees (if applicable),and the venison itself ( approx. 45 lbs.) are TAX DEDUCTIBLE". How do you guys deduct this on your taxes? Thanks.
  23. Who cares about how quiet crossbows are. No deer will jump the string when you are lobbing bolts into their vitals from 80-110yards out! lol
  24. Excluding elderly and handicap; why would a current non bow hunter start hunting archery season if crossbows were legal? 1. New hunters who are just getting into the sport, see xbows being used on TV and think they are cool. 2. Current hunters who are afraid of heights and won't go in treestands. Maybe they can't set up a ground blind on state land, etc. A crossbow gives them better odds on the ground with no blind than a compound. 3. Hunters who want to expand their hunting seasons, but dont have the time to practice enough with the compound bow. There are many reasons. I'll be out on 10/1 with my Excalibur and I am going to shoot "Your Deer".
