I would hope the local agencies can use Google.

I see a number of them when I cut a hay field. Looking for" dead" mice, frogs, and snakes.

Being planted this afternoon. Got the call this morning that seed came in Min -tilled ground this morning with a good roll down. Seed price came in at $157 / bag. Oats were $7.35 / bag. Urea ran $21.80 / # bulk. See if this coming rain will pop them through by next week.

So you say deer is your number 1...

Being around thousands of inches of them, once a year must help too, LOL. -

Great discussion! Some really interesting views. On with the show! -
Good soil properties lead to better nutrition equals larger deer and bigger racks. Of coarse, a smaller frame deer can support a large rack; personally found this out. Nutrition is the key folks. Of coarse, some of us know this already, LOL.

Got done raking hay with a temp of 93 degrees in the shade at 1 o'clock. Heat index has to be 100. Is the rest of the state sizzling?

The sweet garlic relish and pickles are good on venson burger.

If their's a 140, 8 point or larger; a 130 pound babyless doe all within range, I will shoot the 140 any day of the week to fill my buck tag, if given a good shot and in season, of coarse. I will shoot the doe, if the buck isn't a sure thing, to fill a doe tag. All this is heavily dependent of my attitude for the day. I let smaller younger bucks walk by, observing them. This is why deer hunting is pretty dam inportant, to me. Now, fire away. -
Last nights bachelor party...

Wooly, on a serious note now; are you surprised to see that many bucks in your area? The winter kill numbers looked to be pretty high there. Of coarse' only the strong survive. -
Do we still need a muzzleloader permit
landtracdeerhunter replied to Dave's topic in CrossBow Hunting
The crossbow certificate in the hunting guide is nothing more than a liability sign off for New York state. -

My summer project is half way done...
landtracdeerhunter replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
Fancy Woodshed. Bet that fire will feel good with all that dry wood on a cold winters night. -
Ozone levels are elevated today and tomorrow. Thursday back to average temps. First few weeks of August look to be below normal temps., as the jets team sinks south of us, similar to last winters pattern. Jet stream, these androids have a mind f their own, LOL.

I miss the days of watching a good bird dog work a pheasant in the wild. Then, capitalizing on the effort. There's nothing else like it. So pheasant hunting would have to top the list. Deer & Turkey has taken it's place and filled the void over the years rather nicely. I do so enjoy the time afield. I get lost in the moment. I would hope that some day pheasants could return to the wild.

landtracdeerhunter replied to Dave's topic in CrossBow Hunting
"So a crossbow is still considered a firearm in New York with the muzzleloader privilege license required to hunt with one. -
Bottle some of this heat up for release in January and February.

Horse manure on food plot?
landtracdeerhunter replied to slyfox91's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Been using it for years. Remember, decomposing organic material will use nitrogen, then release it on completion. Some call it "antler Dirt" Weed, grass, and legume seeds will regrow, including those that were digested. -
Heavy wild crop of apples with the deer claiming the drops. little worried about the limbs for the weight. Bracing will be needed.b

First week of turkey season, finding turkey egg shells in the favorite turkey nesting spots. Counted 21 poults with 2 hens yesterday. Quite a few poults for two hens. May have missed a hen. Starting to use their summertime roosting spot. Largest numbers ever here. Excited and can't wait to get some pics. Worked on habitat improvement here, for several years. I would hope something I've done has helped. Not taking any credit yet though.

Earn A Buck programs work. Shot a doe to receive a buck tag. Use of check in stations. More cost associated with this program. Most likely the reason why NY. Won't use this method.
