Grow, if the year turns out like it did two years ago, I will give you a couple swarms with hive bodies, free of charge.

Sunshine is hot in this ground blind. Hens, hens, and more hens. They came in quite close eyeing me up. Their boyfriends must be on other dates. Not a sign. Found several broken shells on the walk out yesterday. More predictor hunting this year.

Happy birthday . Sounds like a great day for both parties. Sure have great weather on yourspecial day, Enjoy!
-
You make it look easy. Congrats!

My turn? Gosh darn it I didn't screw up yesterday morning. Surprise! Tom and a hen came in silent at 9 o'clock. I was set up for 12 o'clock in a ground blind. Turned my head to the left to fast. That hen made one of the loudest noises ever heard from a hen. The whole works waisted no time, shall I say leaving the scene. Beautiful big tom. My heart just sank.

Their coming in silent here since start. Makes for a more challenging hunt.

That is one heck of a nice turkey and a wonderful story. Congrats!

I was there Lawdwaz. I was also disappointed in the spot change. The smelt was good when getting past all that coating. I peeled that off. All in all, we had a good time. Thanks to Lewiston Spenser's for a successful event. I look for you in the crowd . You must film with a longer neck than in person,LOL.

I also went out. Every so often, I found. 5 to 8 down like feathers. Only time I"be witness this is when one turkey would get to close to the other and poke with their beak grabbing feathers. I know of a tom and a Jake hanging together. That Jake seems more aggressive than the tom.

Tomorrow May 1st from 6 to 10 pm. In Lewiston N. Y.. Lewiston never smelt so good, LOL. I will be there and also at the Brickyard getting my usual, the Poor Boy sandwich.

Kinda send chills down ones back. No matter how many turkey pics I view, I just can't get enough, LOL.

Welcome! Nice deer .

That sure sounds like a great hunt. Congrats!

Have a call in my pocket, a gun in my hand, and a turkey in my mind. All I need now, is some luck , skill, a good sharp knife, and a plate to put it on. Good luck everyone!

Still. Looking. Another nice encounter with seven , looked like yearling deer. We both caught each other off guard. They were bedded down on a north facing knoll, in some brush. Several looked out at me, as I stood still on the laneway. After several stare down minutes, they worked their way out into the alfalfa field loading up on the nice greenery starting to come on. Their were several doe. They all looked in really good shape. Beautiful bright sunny day today.

We'll all be over! What time is supper? LOL.

Pumpkins
landtracdeerhunter replied to Bowshotmuzzleloader's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Pumpkins work well here. I like the option of having a drawing food source, after Thanksgiving, when all other legumes and grasses have turned brown. We don't hunt over them, but they sure do draw the deer. I grow a nice open pollinated variety. Look more like a big pinkish orange squash than a pumpkin. The problem, the last 2 years here was getting the ground worked up, because of the wet conditions. Had to mud some in with knee boots. I always try to plant an acre or more. If you decide to try some, they like plenty of nitrogen. -
I haven't kept up to date on ground blinds for a while. Some of them looked more user friendly with adding more window options. Looked like they were aiming for more bow hunting options out of them. I like hunting turkey out of them for concealment, but feel like I'm missing viewing options. The other factor that have quelled my buying ground blinds, is the price. I just can't see paying $100 or more for a cheaply made tent. LOL.

No New York gobblers to date. Did get a few in Ohio though. Forgot to take the camera with me. Believed it weighed #18. Had to fight coyotes off, just to claim it. Hens flying all over the place. Story for another day.

Standard transmission? Hope you know how to use a clutch. Personally would prefer 4 wheels design. I like the color names though, with the free bumper sticker and shirt, LOL.
-
You go Grow! Nice time to get fruits and peas in. Any onions? How's those cardboard blinds holding up in all this wind? I went from knee high boots to ankle over the weekend, LOL.

You best wake up NOW!

All I have to say is " Benghazi." She couldn't preform as Secretary of State. How the hell is she going to answer the phone at 2 in the morning?
