  1. I think the people that lay out these parking lot mazes should go back to college to take some engineering courses. Might even be better off staying away from college and learn from a few old cogers.
  2. I picked up hatchet head today. Looked like a nice one so I give $5 for it and a hunting belt buckle. After cleaning it up, inscribed was American Fork & Hoe Company, 1944. Shave down another hickory handle.
  3. Blue moon. Once a year, one month has two full moons.
  4. It had some post about Viagra this morning. Maybe that had something to do with it.
  5. Eddie, it magically reappeared. Thank you to those that made it come back.
  6. Out of land management heading. Strangest thing. If someone finds it, please let me know where it Is. I want it back, LOL.
  7. I plant common feed oats. Have for many years here. Readily available and more reasonable price. Does great. This year, I planted oats with the radish. I figure a great source of nutrients for the deer early, then when they die off, the radish will absorb the nitrogen, feed the deer into next year. Deer come in hammering the oats every year planted. We'll find out if the radish can handle the traffic. So far, about 2 1/2 acres are planted. Went with 8 lb./ acre on the radish seed. Oats came in just about half of what normally planted alone. Going to mix up the planting dates a week or so, with another 1 1/2 acres next week. With the deer activity that been absorbed, I figure a not her couple acres should be adicuate. The urea went on, as always, a little heavier than wanted at 90 lb/ acre. Pelleted flow through the spreader a lot faster, LOL. I also use feed wheat for seed. Most of it is one year from certified anyways at a significant savings On another note, I was quite surprised how little moisture is in the ground here. When I mii-tilled the plow layer, the dust was flying. Very dry for all the June rainfall we had. Very thank full for the thunder showers we had yesterday and this morning. Should be right up. Can you post some pics of yours. Quite curious how your plantings are doing.
  8. Oh my! Did he split the firewood also? LOL.
  9. I have a habit picking up old hatchets and little axes on flea markets, garage sale environments. Ones with handles for $5., without sometimes for $2. cut out a nice hickory handle, linceed oil them and install. If I think I have to many, I flea them, making a nice little profit. Sometimes, people just want to get rid of them. There's some nice old ones. They sure don't Mak,em like they use too.
  10. Maybe they were looking for an. Alignment
  11. A lot of toads and green frogs, here this year. Boy are the frogs legs ever good. I have never seen so many in the hays fields. I have to stop forward motion so they don,'t jump in to the pickup. Turkey. Vultures and talks are cleaning up.
  12. The deer eat weeds to and have a surprising amount of food value. I believe you posted an article on that subject.
  13. I also needed something to store deer hides in for freshness, LOL.
  14. Good Eddie. You think the temp should be around 35- 40? What's the best temp to store meat on cut up? We just picked up a 6 foot chest freezer from family for 10 bucks that still had freezer stuff in it. Older Kenmore, heavier than guilt. I figure if she conks out, can always throw block of ice in it, cool.
  15. What, full size trucks get bad gas milage; now why don't somebody tell me those things!
  16. I would hope the local agencies can use Google.
  17. I see a number of them when I cut a hay field. Looking for" dead" mice, frogs, and snakes.
  18. Being planted this afternoon. Got the call this morning that seed came in Min -tilled ground this morning with a good roll down. Seed price came in at $157 / bag. Oats were $7.35 / bag. Urea ran $21.80 / # bulk. See if this coming rain will pop them through by next week.
  19. Being around thousands of inches of them, once a year must help too, LOL.
  20. Great discussion! Some really interesting views. On with the show!
  21. Good soil properties lead to better nutrition equals larger deer and bigger racks. Of coarse, a smaller frame deer can support a large rack; personally found this out. Nutrition is the key folks. Of coarse, some of us know this already, LOL.
  22. Got done raking hay with a temp of 93 degrees in the shade at 1 o'clock. Heat index has to be 100. Is the rest of the state sizzling?
  23. The sweet garlic relish and pickles are good on venson burger.
  24. If their's a 140, 8 point or larger; a 130 pound babyless doe all within range, I will shoot the 140 any day of the week to fill my buck tag, if given a good shot and in season, of coarse. I will shoot the doe, if the buck isn't a sure thing, to fill a doe tag. All this is heavily dependent of my attitude for the day. I let smaller younger bucks walk by, observing them. This is why deer hunting is pretty dam inportant, to me. Now, fire away.
