  1. To Moog's point, actionable v. Against company policy. Corporations are so afraid of lawsuits claiming that their lax policies allowed an environment where harassment was ok that they create corporate "zero tolerance" policies. These effectively create a workplace where any touching, a lot of joking, and most signs of sympathy or empathy, are prohibited.
  2. X2.. Before I start my walk in, I'll rub it on the bottom of my boots, and also the sides of the boots. Basically anything that might come in contact with the ground. Once I get to my stand, I'll draw an "X" on a nearby tree or two. I've had deer walk in on the same trail that I used within minutes of me without spooking.
  3. If you like a little heat, I highly recommend the jalapeno and cheddar smoked sausage. I get them vacuum sealed and toss them right in the freezer.
  4. I saw a video once.. maybe bearded butchers? ..where they fillet the silver skin off the straps. Blew my mind. It's amazing what a sharp knife and a little know how will do.
  5. Working on breaking down yesterday's Buck.
  6. Live from the hot tub... In hindsight this probably would've been the way to go. I tried making the deer burrito with a tarp that I brought. It wasn't heavy duty though and ended up testing during the drag. It was better than nothing, but barely. It kept the gut cavity clean more than anything else.
  7. That's interesting.. messy.. maybe dangerous.. but an interesting idea for transporting smaller deer.
  8. Totally agree. My buddy with the toys is out of town for work and everyone else was working. I get to the gym a few times a week but this morning kicked my butt.
  9. Ok so the drag out took about 4.5 hours. @Buckmaster7600 just earned a new level of respect for what he's able to do in the mountains. After this ordeal I'm thinking that future deer might get packed out piece by piece when I'm this far from the car. Time for a shower and a nap.
  10. 2 deer this year. 1 from a climber and the other from a ground blind
  11. Thanks folks. Taking a break to catch my breath. Sorry to hear it Cynthia. Been there.. recently.. and it sucks..
  12. #fromtheground He was moving in from the right. Real slow and weary. He started to circle behind me. I hit him at about 40 yds. He ran maybe 70 yds then I watched him pile up. He's a big bodied 7pt. This mile drag through mud is going to take me all day.
  13. The woods are coming alive in 8a. Just watched a turkey wake up 20yds away. Sitting in a ground blind that I built a few years back. Good wind for it today and it's overlooking an active scrape line. Today feels good.
  14. These early morning sits are starting to wear on me.. good luck to those who are in the woods
  15. Ha I can barely afford to feed the one I have. I'll tell you what I tell him, it's time to get a job. 50:50 pork to venison mix In the one I added salt, parsley, parmesan cheese, fennel seed, and garlic powder. Then dumped half a bottle of Merlot on it. In the other it was paprika, salt, black pepper, chopped jarred jalapenos, cubed cheddar, fennel seed, minced garlic. Nothing was measured. Just kinda winged it. Wife said it's the best batch yet.
  16. Saw one deer so far. I think it might've been a young 6pt. Hard to tell though. It was moving through the neighbors brush about 100yds behind me. Lots of squirrel and turkey though. 3 shots so far.
  17. Taught my son to make sausage last night. Used a 50 50 venison to pork mix. Made a sweet Italian and a spicy pepper and cheese.
  18. Back at it in 8a. Dead calm this morning. Only squirrels so far. Only have a few hours to get it done this morning.
  19. Tapped out. It was really really cold this morning with the wind. At times visibility was down to about 50 yds because of the snow. Heard about 50 shots, first see any deer. Heading to my boy's soccer game. I'll be back at it in Monday.
  20. Savage Axis II in .308 with a Nikon 4-12 on top, shooting 150 gr Hornady American Whitetail
  21. Savage Axis II in .308 with a Nikon 4-12 on top, shooting 150 gr Hornady American Whitetail
  22. Probably 30+ shots already.. just now getting to legal.. saw 4 doe running past the stand I was in yesterday. 300yds
