Ignorance in America
Dave replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Buck, I agree , I think the insults start after a sarcastic comment especially if it's of a personal nature. The sarcasm usually evoked this type of give and take and then it gets out of hand. We should keep to the topic and answer without sarcasm or insults. Dave -
Good morning Bubba,You are right I should just pass these political discussions by if I don't agree or want to comment. As far as the complement on my vast intelligence and superior mind set I think you went too far. I just post my opinion like every one else. Believe it or not I have learned a lot from some of the hunters on this site and I respect their opinions even if it's in opposition to my own. The point I was (TRYING) to make was there could be a STAND ALONE thread for just POLITICS. This was just MHO to separate hunting politics from any other type politics. Just look at how many hunting threads there are it's not just hunting, there are many catagoies . Sorry if my suggestion bothered you, only a suggestion.. Dave

What about a 5 yr plan to improve Small game Hunting
Dave replied to Dave's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Joe, in my area there isn't a lot of small game I didn't even see a grey squirrel last hunting season. Did see a few rabbits in the summer but that was it. Maybe I have to do some habitat improvments on my property. Dave -
Muzzy I agree but some on this site believe hydro fracking never contaminated any thing. Check this out.Quote from: nyantler on July 29, 2011, 02:37:53 pmIf you check...there has not been a single proven case where hydrofracking has contaminated a water supply, well or ground area. And there has yet to be a proven case.. I didn't say it hasn't happened or I don't believe it happens... I said that there is no proven case... just alleged cases... if you want to state the facts.. that is the fact... not my opinion. Environmental and human health concerns associated with hydraulic fracturing include the contamination of ground water, risks to air quality, the migration of gases and hydraulic fracturing chemicals to the surface, and the potential mishandling of waste.[16] The potential costs associated with possible environmental clean-up processes, loss of land value and human and animal health concerns are undetermined. A 2010 EPA study discovered contaminants in drinking water including: arsenic, copper, vanadium, and adamantanes adjacent to drilling operations. The EPA said a broad range of sources are being investigated, including agricultural activity, but noted gas drilling as a potential cause.[17] EPA administrator Lisa Jackson recently told Congress that there have been no "proven cases where the fracking process itself has affected water." [18] New technological advances continue to be developed and appropriate state regulations are working to ensure the process is safely implemented.[19] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_fracturing Joe, now that we are best buds and you are going to buy me lunch, you have to admit that hydro fracking had something to do with the contaminated wells in Pa. Your study was in 2010 these results were from 2011 . Why would they pay million dollar fines if they weren't responsible. Just my humble opinionDave

Thanks Buck.Dave

Eddie, took my quad to Rusty Palmers in Pa. had a carburator problem when I shut the quad off , I would find a puddle of gas under the quad the next day. The mechanic told me it's from the ethonal in the gas causes gaskets to leak. So you are right again. That corn is costing me bucks.Dave

Just amazing. Thanks for sharing, now I know what bucks look like. Do you have AR in your DMU? If yes I am all for it. Dave

Seem the DEC is most interested in improving our Deer population what about our small game. If we had better small game hunting maybe more kids will get interested in hunting period. Then they would progress to deer hunting. But the small game in many areas is lacking, no squirrels, rabbits, birds etc. What should be done to improve small game hunting? Should the DEC come up with a plan? Your thoughts. Dave

G-Man very good point. Will they issue 3 buck tags? If so I don't think it will help the buck to doe ratio or help the buck population rebound.Dave

Cs fined more than $1 million in Pennsylvania Click on above full artic Read your own article before you post maybe Dave.. That was a well drilling insident not a hydrofracking insident.. I'm not saying hydrofracking is a good thing.. only nothing has been proven... just alleged DEP said improper well casing and cementing allowed natural gas to seep into groundwater and contaminate 16 families’ drinking water wells in northern Pennsylvania’s Bradford County. The department began investigating the complaints last year. In November, it won approval of stronger well-casing and cementing rules that a top DEP official has said would have prevented the gas migration. Joe, someone on this site told me it's a waste of time trying to have a discussion with a lunatic. He was absolutely right. Dave Tough admitting you don't even read your own links?... Have a good argument once in a while Dave...maybe something true instead of something you create out of thin air You point was that gas well drilling (Hydro Fracking) never contaminated a water supply. Whether it's methane or fracking fluid that gets in your well water it's contaminated. Read the post again, don't know what part of contaminated you don't understand. You may have another definition for contamination. Or you just can't comprehend something when you are dead wrong.Dave Range Resources has paid $288,875 in fines to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as of February 2011[7]. The bulk was $141,175 levied for a fracking fluid spill that killed aquatic life in Washington County's Brush Creek (protected by the state as a "high-quality waterway"), according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.[8 I guess this wasn't proven either

Bubba, I think they should have a thread for just Politics period. Not to confuse hunting and politics being lumped together. That way if you see a post under the politics section you know it has nothing to do with hunting. And we know who we can put in charge of that thread. Just my humble opinion.Dave What about the political stuff that does have something to do with hunting? It's much easier for us not to have to babysit you Dave and you can just avoid the threads you don't like on your own... or maybe John can rebuild the whole forum so that it meets your needs... and then after that he can check with you to make sure it meets your approval... It must be terrible not to be able to resist the temptation to click your mouse on a thread that doesn't even interest you. Joe, thanks for supporting me in this matter , I didn't know you cared so much. Never see you go out of your way for the rest of the members. You must truly like me. You are my new best friend. Lets do lunch one of these days.Dave -

I was thinking about the bow season for next year and having to apply for a DMP because there will be no either sex tags issued with your bow license. I know the reason for this because a bow hunter can hunt in any DMU he chooses and shoot a doe in any area he wants. An the Dec would not have any control over how many deer are taken in a given area. What about the DEC leaving the bow license alone, still issue the either sex tags. But it's issued for only one DMU this way DEC will know how many DMP to issue. And could charge more for the tag. Dave

Having a side arm during archery season sure came in handy.Dave

Lets see some more trail camera photos - 2011 version!
Dave replied to burmjohn's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
The only reason I mentioned game farm is because in all my years hunting I have never seen so many bucks together. Well good luck and hope you get one of these big guy's. P.S. I would keep that place a secret.Dave -
Buck, 30 years ago there were gas leases on lots of land in NYS but they were never drilled. The type of drilling was vertical and not as intrusive as Hydro Fracking which used millions of gallons of water for each well. Not to mention the sand and chemicals pumped down the well. This type drilling is horizontal and much deeper than previous wells they typically drill down 7 or 8 thousand feet. Plus they are talking about drilling thousands of wells in southern NY.Dave.
