  1. I agree (a big) part of his early appeal was that he was an outsider, non-career politician, businessman that people thought would fix our government. Unfortunately (for everyone), his pathologic and malignant personality overshadowed that appeal. I hope he has not sufficiently poisoned the well toward an outsider again.
  2. Doesn't matter if he does or doesn't declare it a national monument. To ANTIFA it will represent DJT and/or some racist /nationalist monolith that they have the moral obligation to tear down. The real question is how will the powers that be respond if it does happen.
  3. I hope so, and DJT is not the person to do this with. In fact, it would probably be best run by a young non-career politician.
  4. #2 above does make sense. In science there is a saying "an absence of evidence is not proof". You need evidence to prove something. In our legal system, you need to prove someone guilty based on the evidence. A criminal that well covers their tracks will leave little evidence of guilt. That absence of evidence does not prove their innocence. Hence, our legal system finds someone guilty or not guilty (based on the evidence), it never finds them innocent.
  5. Everyone should discuss with their primary care physician (gastroentorologist or oncologist) if this is a better option than colonoscopy for them. We all have different and unique risk factors to consider above personal comfort preference.
  6. Trump killed at least one person we know of. That Iranian General believed to be a terrorist. Trump himself has publicly taken credit for this killing. I'm just answering your question "how many people did trump kill?" I am not taking any position on it.
  7. We should all be able to agree with this from the opinion piece: Law enforcement should seek to arrest as many of the participants in Wednesday’s attack as possible — some have already been identified, and there’s video evidence that should make it easy to identify many more. And anyone who tries to violently interfere with the transfer of power should also be arrested.
  8. Chef I'm not missing anything. I completely agree with you regarding the above; and would add there are still normal Democrats out there. All I'm trying to do is be objective about the rhetoric from both sides.
  9. ...and from his playbook is building a utopian society that will be the envy of the world, where civilian ownership of firearms to protect themselves is unnecessary. I believe Biden said "Hell yeah i'm going to take your guns..." and he was going to put Beto in charge of doing it. Schumer said change Georgia and then change America. When we are going to quote history lets be complete and not selective. All of the references and analogies to Hitler and Nazis have elements that can be applied to both parties. I also do not believe it is fair to imply that either party is comparable to the Nazis.
  10. VH, I am not defending Trump. You said " There is nothing like this in the Democratic Party. We aren’t talking about political doublespeak or press conferences were nothing is said." Schiff said he had the evidence of collusion, over and over He never produced any. Collusion was never proven. I agree it also did not exonerate Trump. However, our legal system presumes innocent until proven guilty. Verdicts are guilty or not guilty, no one is found "innocent" or exonerated. Waters said to harass administration officials. Both sides, D & R, lie, deceive, inflame, and incite.
  11. Both sides are guilty! Adam Schiff (D): I have the evidence of Russian collusion Maxine Waters (D):
  12. VH, agree. I only hope people on BOTH sides realize that "demagoguery and the outright propagation of falsehoods by those in positions of power." occurs on BOTH sides of the aisle. America is better united and the best way there is for both sides to call it out on THEIR side and end it. A Rep or Dem calling BS on their colleague is more credible than the other party doing it.
  13. I will ignore your "ignorant" characterisation and not respond in kind. The point is in 1938 a political group attacked citizens (Jews). In 2020, a group (too much credit to call them political) attacked the government, not citizens. If they, had attacked a particular group of citizens it would be comparable. I am not defending either attack. I am just pointing out the significant difference in the two incidents. Truth be told, what happened in the Capitol is not even close to what happened to the Jews in 1938. The analogy is arguably reprehensible because it diminishes what happened in 1938!
  14. The 1938 attack against the Jewish people is reprehensible, and should not be used as an analogy to the Capitol incident. In 1938, it was an antisemitic political group attacking citizens for hateful reasons. In the 2020 Capitol incident, a group (call them what you may) attacked the government for political (defend Constitution?) reasons. This comparison is not even close to being valid.
  15. It seems many topics/threads unfortunately devolve into politics on this site. Which is just another symptom of what is wrong with America today. Anything and everything is becoming politicized which only divides/polarizes and resolves nothing. It serves the politicians and only the politicians.
  16. This definition could be applied to both sides of the aisle. There are two primary criteria in it bridged at "...individual and that...". The Left focuses on the first criteria labeling the Right, and the Right focuses on the second criteria labeling the Left. Since neither the Left or Right meet both criteria of this definition it should not be applied to either side of the aisle!
  17. It's a different part of the season. Some bucks are dead from hunting. Some are dead from the rigors of the rut. Some have moved on to their winter range.
  18. Nomad my gun club had attorneys discuss this very topic of restrictions. This is actually a legally unclear area. You are correct that it is not the written law. However, it is the opinion of the AG that the issuing agents can legally add restrictions. The validity of these restrictions would need to be settled via an actual court case and precedent verdict. Who wants to be the plaintiff? On LI, the issuing agents are the county police departments, not judges, who are adding these restrictions. On LI, the police can and will arrest you for carry; and will certainly revoke at the same time. Appreciate too that NYS Pistol licenses are not valid for carry in the 5 boroughs of NYC, you need a NYC permit which is unobtainable.
  19. Interesting. My friend went to CT to duck hunt and Bass Pro would not sell him AMMO because he was not a state resident!
  20. That's NYS!!!!! Way overkill? You can be sure they want and will get more too. Even though 2A is a RIGHT: First, you are processed (and treated) the same as a criminal, only a criminal does not pay to get printed and background checked; free for him/her. Second, what other "right" has someone paying fees to exercise it? None, that is unconstitutional and goes back to Jim Crow laws. Third, what other "right" has classes required? How about making these annually required and having fees? Fourth, all reasonable gun control measures will be implemented in an unreasonable way. It is all intended to be time, effort, and cost prohibitive to discourage and deter handgun ownership. Fifth, 2A is the only right that includes the words "shall not be infringed" yet is the most infringed right we have. Sixth, this pistol permit can be suspended (and revoked) at the issuer's discretion. On LI, going through a divorce can be grounds for suspension until it is final. All a spouse needs to do is call and state they are in fear. Carry permits on LI are only for celebrities and the politically connected. You don't need to carry anyway the police are their to protect you, Just like at the Capitol building. Not sorry for the rant, NYS citizens & gun owners need to know and understand this.
  21. I use the silver Permatex stuff and most folks I know that use it, including me, complain that once this stuff gets on your hands it is difficult to remove and then it gets everywhere.
  22. Agree, but don't get any on your hands Very difficult to get off!
  23. When this virus first emerged in the US, little was known or understood about it. This originated in China at least 1 month earlier and they did not let out any information for anyone to learn from. It was believed to be spread via surface contact, much like the flu, hence no mask recommendation at first. After it was learned that the virus was airborne, a mask recommendation was put in place. When it was understood/learned this was a pandemic from China and moving through Europe they closed the borders. The US response correctly and appropriately evolved as we learned more about this virus. Riots, Trump rallys, churches, protests, media, election, one side over the other, is all irrelevant.
