Big Indian
yesterday afternoon my 10 year old daughter fell off her bike, got a concussion, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and knocked her front tooth out of place. she looks like she went 15 rounds with a prize fighter. Thankfully she was wearing her helmet which the ER doc said prevented a much more serious head injury. I know most kids dont like wearing them...we never did, but the helmet did it's job. Summer is here and the kids should be out riding playing and having fun, but take it from me a helmet costs $ 25 so go get one and make sure they wear it. Deerthug
Thank God she's ok. I fight with my son to wear his helmet. I tell him "no helmet=no bike".

fasteddie
What is stupid is seeing a parent riding his / her bike with no helmet and riding with a couple kids that are wearing helmets . Adults can be hurt just as easily .
WNYBuckHunter
Glad shes ok. We never wore helmets as kids, I never even heard of a bike helmet until much later in life. I still dont wear one, and wont, but I make my daughter wear one. Call it what you will.

fasteddie
We stayed for a week in Old Forge . I had been riding the roads around home while wearing a helmet but didn't see folks wearing them where we stayed but wore mine anyway . I rode to Inlet and back . I was pumping hard coming up a hill and had enough torque on the back wheel that it pulled out and I crashed . My helmet slammed on the pavement and I would have busted my head open if I hadn't been wearing a helmet . I ended up bruising a kidney . I never wore a helmet as a kid but found it rather hypocritical to have my kids / grand kids wear one and not do it myself . I have a 14 speed bike and always wear the helmet . landtracdeerhunter
Geeze Eddie. You know, parents really never thought much about kids wearing helmets years ago. We never did when we were kids. Could of saved a lot of head injuries, I'm sure. Worse I ever had was a front bike fork run through my leg. Peddle a mile till I got home. Went to old doc Stanberrys office. Give me a tensus shot, butterfly bandages and sent me home with mom and dad. Still remember the pain.
