Stubborn Broadhead Question

Last year I ran arrow through a deer. I was shooting from a ground blind. The arrow passed through but did not slam into the ground. Well I set the arrow in a corner of the garage and I forgot about it untill recently discovered.

I tried to remove the fixed broadhead but seems almost glued in. I used a broadhead wrench and a pair of pliers but the arrow spun in the pliers and tore some of the camo of my Maxima Hunters.

I've got it soaking in hot water now. Is there another way to get the broadhead off without further damaging my arrow?

Ive never had a problem getting them off, even when they go into the ground, etc. I would just keep soaking it maybe some blood dried up in there and has it stuck.

Worse case scenario, you could soak the head in boiling water and pull the entire insert.

I would use Wooly's suggestion. Inserts are cheap.

It sounds like you have dried blood which seems to be a glue. Don't know why if you can't loosen it up with the boiling water use a candle to heat the glue up at the end of the arrow and pull the insert out.

I get that with practice arrows...darn near impossible to get them loose....just remove insert and replace...

I'm thinking it's a bit more trouble then it's worth. If it's just the head & not stuck to the arrow I'd dull it down and junk it.
