landtracdeerhunter
Some of the farmers are down in hay production as much as 20% here, due to the army worm and drought. They have planted sudan grass just to catch up, myself included They say hay is going to be dear this year , way up in price. Beef is going to take a steep hike. oneidacountyhunter
The only time you have to use venison up by august is if you add pork to it..pork doesn't freeze..so it is always decomposing or going rancid if you will. pure venison if packaged properly will last more than a year. its one reason i use beef talow in my ground instead of pork. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
growalot
I've been researching Galloway's or a Galloway cross....they are efficient grass fed beef cattle...that could handle our cold wind hill
WNYBuckHunter
Ive never heard of pork not freezing. I freeze pork loins, ribs, shoulders, butts, chops all the time with no problems. Salted, or cured meats dont freeze for as long as raw meat though.
Culvercreek hunt club
I have read that Pork FAT doesn't freeze as well as beef fat.
Deerthug
Nice to have left over deer meat this time of year. You don't realize how much u rely on the meat until a lean year pops up. Then u really miss it. Yup! That was me last year . . .
