Maybe you should read some of the articles ...................The NRA doesn't want Reid to lose for fear of Schumer getting power . The NRA changed it's mind for fear of losing members . The NRA certainly does us a lot of good but that doesn't make them perfect either .

If you ain't NRA, You're nothing!

You don't hunt with me, or hunt on my land, if you are not an NRA member.  And I don't care what anybody thinks about my policy.

If you enjoy the freedom you have to own firearms, as diminished as they may be these days, you owe a debt of gratitude to the NRA.  If you feel the NRA is wrong, you deserve to find out what it's like to lose your rights and become enslaved by an overbearing government that wants to control your every thought.

I'm angered and embarrassed by the fact that fewer than 5% of American gun owners are NRA members.  It's obvious to me most American gun owners are not that concerned about losing their rights or are in complete denial when it comes to the reality of anti-gun agendas.

Either way, I do not want them around me when I enjoy my shooting or hunting lifestyle.

An unfounded accusation is not an opinion, it is a veiled attack.  Why don't you take it up with the NRA and post their response to your inquiry on the forum?

I believe too many people sound off without knowing all of the facts or issues involved with the NRA's decisions.  I fail to see what one hopes to accomplish by trashing the NRA.

If someone quits the NRA because they think this one issue is important enough to lose their gun rights over, they're not thinking clearly.  The NRA may not see things the way someone wants them to.  But no one can know what all was involved in their decision unless they were involved in the decision making, or they ask the NRA for an explanation.  Taking information from any other source and reporting it negatively is foolish.  Why become a tool used by the anti NRA groups to bash them and cause even more misinformed people to quit?

I personally dont like the NRA because I dont truly believe they are out there to help gun owners. I beleive they want constant challanges for gun rights becaue this a way to keep there ever growing bank accounts huge. just think about it if there wasnt any gun restrictions do we have a need for them. We dont have a need we can set are own idea and warning by how and who we vote in.

Lol ..... Spoken like a true anti-gun advocate. The anti-gunners know that the NRA is the only thing standing between them and their goal of total gun confiscation. I don't see how there is an honest person on either side of the gun issue who can truthfully deny the fact that the NRA is the only reason we have private gun ownership today. The Kennedys, Bradys, Boxers, Feinsteins, Schumers, and all the other members of the anti-gun brigade would have long ago had their way with our gun rights if it were not for the efforts of the NRA and their members. Those gun owners that think they are being so open minded and intellectual by bad-mouthing the NRA should give their head a shake and and just send in their contributions to the Brady bunch. To publicly bash the only effective 2nd amendment advocacy organization is pretty much in the same sort of thing.

If the NRA didn't have to WASTE money fighting the constant gun rights battle, they could use the money they get from dues and contributions to do positive things, like build shooting ranges, buy more lands to hunt (like Whittingham) and train more people in the safe handling and shooting of firearms.

What huge bank account do you think they have?  All of the money they take in annually is spent!  Why do you think they are always asking members to help?

I can understand an uniformed reason for not liking the NRA, but some are so misinformed it's scary.

Please dont be so informed your self. While being the biggest private lobbiest group in the country and having a sole purpose of protecting gun rights they do alot of preventing things against gun owners. Instead of challanging legislation or lobby at a local level they wait until its about to go for a vote to step in. Please I have not seen the NRA in NY doing anything for a long time if any. Second Amendment Foundation is the only one willing to help and chage things in NY for gun permits. So if you opinion is informed bring on the facts. As far as being called anti for my opinion your dead wrong and insulting. NRA has become more of a Hollywood status not a help of any kind. I give the Second Amendment Foundation and a active member because they go and fight and are currently helping me you and everyoen from NY. Yes the NRA started out with good intentions but think about it does the national diabetes foundation want a cure for diabetes or the national cancer foundation or the national heart foundation want cures ...Of course not because the high paying jobs that they have will go away... Im saying and understand that this isnt about being anti, this is about who truly is fighting and looking to change things. The people we vote in will have there votes and opinions ahead of time. We dont need the NRA to change mind. We need the NRA to start pushing on changing laws by challanging them in courts. The Second Amendment Foundation does that every day.

It costs money to Lobby in DC and the NRA uses the collected money to maintain our gun rights . Who else is going to do that ? The NRA is absolutely necessary !

When Democrats acted  to give the District of Columbia long-denied voting rights in Congress, the powerful gun lobby saw a target too good not to take a shot at.

The National Rifle Association's lobbyists made it clear to lawmakers that they believed the bill should include a measure to overturn the capital's gun control laws. Left mostly unsaid, but well understood by all 535 members of the House and Senate, was that failure to do so would unleash a barrage of political pain on resisters.

The result showed the strong sway the NRA has even over a Congress dominated by liberal Democrats who mostly disagree with the organization's positions. The Senate voted overwhelmingly to add the gun-rights proposal. House Democratic leaders, fearing a tough vote on the issue, swiftly scrapped plans to consider the D.C. voting legislation.

The bill hasn't resurfaced because Democrats cannot figure out how to keep it from splitting their ranks. Moderates and conservatives don't want to buck the NRA. Liberals are reluctant to be blackmailed into loosening gun laws.

And the 2nd Amendment Foundation bashes the NRA every chance they get.  That's why you have the anti-NRA opinion that you have.  You are listening to too much anti-NRA propaganda being spewed by organizations that thinks they can get in on the power that the NRA has earned over more than a century of existence and accomplishment.

I have no tolerance for any so called gun rights organization that attacks the NRA in order to elevate itself.  If it were truly interested in your gun rights, they would work with the NRA in it's fights, not work against them.

Divide and conquer is the best strategy the anti-gun crowd has.  These other "gun rights" groups are falling right into their trap.  Some of these groups were even started by anti-gun individuals with the hope of luring some people away from the NRA.

If you think the NRA should fight every single gun battle in this country, especially at the state level, you should be calling for every gun owner in the country to join them so they might be able to pay for it.  I'm glad the 2nd Amendment Foundation fights these battles, but knocking the NRA for not doing so is where they show their true colors.

Join any group you like, but if your group wants to attack another gun rights group, you better start asking yourself why.  Better still, join any other group you like as long as you're an NRA member first!

P.S.  Only 5% of gun owners are NRA members.  The other 95% are getting a great deal of help with their gun rights considering the little bit of money the NRA has to work with.  There would be no anti-gun movement in this country if every gun owner was an NRA member.

Also, I don't know what fight the 2nd Amendment Foundation is waging for NYers, but it doesn't seem to be working, because NY's gun laws are almost the worst of any state in America, and getting worse all the time.

Are you kidding me you dont know what they are doing for NY. They have the biggest battle ever waged for gun rights here in New York. They are preparing to go up to the Unites States Supreme Court to get the good cause law for gun permits changed in New York. Thats right if they are succesfull, you will no longer need a good reason to get a gun permit in New York. They will hands down beet anything the NRA has done for New York in a long time.

Get back to me when they actually accomplish something.

Perhaps the NRA is more interested in helping states that have a lot of NRA members.  Why should they get involved with a state where gun owners seem to be OK with laws that infringe on their gun rights?  Maybe if NY had more members, the NRA would get involved, knowing they would be supported.  But with anti gun politicians constantly getting elected here, like Cuomo, and relatively few NRA members, what do you expect?

Like I said before, 95% of gun owners are getting a lot of free help from the NRA.  In return they criticize their efforts and join other gun groups.  That's gratitude for ya.

I have no use for gun owners who don't understand that.

That is true. Seemingly the NRA does not have the  will to take on the anti gun faction in NY. Good luck to the NAGR with their efforts despite my reservations about this group.

If not for the NRA there would be no NAGR... who do you think has paved the way?? You anti NRA people in NY would have nothing for the NAGR to fight for here in NY if not for the NRA.. If you aren't for the NRA you aren't really for gun rights... they have never waivered in their commitment to gun owners all over the country.. member and non-member...Mr VJP is correct when he says 95% of you non-members get a free ride when it comes to them fighting for your 2nd amendment right...  NRA members have made the same commitment by helping to fund the process.. If you think the NAGR has the clout to do anything on their own as far as the good clause law is concerned without the support of the NRA.. i'm afraid you will be very disappointed... the NRA has the will to fight the anti gun people in NY they just don't have the support of NY gun owner!

Well the NRA had better start doing a better job in NY as far as applying pressure to their NY constituency.

Is there an "or else!" with that?

The NRA doesn't need NY, or any other state that is Left wing, Liberal and anti-gun.  These states need the NRA!  But with attitudes like NY's gun owners, they are not very likely to come to NY's aid, especially when NYer's don't even support them.

The NRA has got it's hands full with national anti-gun battles.  If a state wants their help with state anti-gun issues, the gun owners in that state better wise up and join the NRA.

Otherwise, what reason do they have to help you?

The NRA has not done a good job in the state in large part due to the parade of useless people ILA had representing them here.  There has been a shakeup down in Fairfax and a new lobbyist has been hired to work in NY and NJ.  Give them a chance to see if they can do a better job.

So lets see thats 2 areas that are liberal areas and they won ; without the NRA's help.... I know the case in Chicago will pave the way for New York. Again no thanks for the NRA... I know one thing SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! and Second Amendment Foundation has
