13BVET
This is a patch of woods behind my house. I see deer constantly. The question is, would you hunt this spot? It goes back to the stream, and is in between houses. What are your thoughts on this? I don't know how to save a portion of the Mapqwest map, but the address is 518 Creek Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. Only Mapqwest has the correct address.
martin
I use to live right on 9G by the motorcycle place. Been down that road and my opinion would be no. Might be getting the wrong attention.
13BVET
It's funny. I was actually leery about it also. I've found, however, that all my neighbors shoot coyotes, and squirrels right in their back yard. There is also hunting going on across the stream. I had called a DEC officer yesterday, and asked his opinion, and he actually said that he would hunt it-just let the neighbors know-which I did. Very hard decision right now, with losing my other spot......
13BVET
Can someone please explain how to upload just a portion of the map?
Doc
My guess is that as long as you don't violate the 500' law relating to buildings, or any local ordinances that prohibit discharge of firearms or bow/arrows, You can hunt that spot. Anyplace where you " see deer constantly" is certainly a good candidate for a hunting spot.
G-Man
The best hunting is in spot no one else would go, like the 1st time hunter that kills a huge buck in the middle of a goldenrod field that all the seasoned hunters walk by on way to the woods. If your legal distance or have the proper permission HUNT!
Elmo
1. zoom into the location you want to take a picture of. 2. hold down the 'alt' key and they press the 'print screen' key (its the 3rd bottom from the very top right corner of your keyboard) - nothing is going to happen. what just happen is done in the background. 3. open a paint program liks mspaint. 4. right click the paint program and select 'paste'. - this will copy the entire window onto the paint program. 5. trim off the sides that you don't need using the paint program. 6. save the picture and select to 'Save as...' a JPEG. 7. upload the saved JPEG file. Elmo
More importantly, are you comfortable showing people where you live?
Dan92
if its legal and not to close where a wounded deer will go into a yard or middle of the road id say go for it
13BVET
Elmo, I understand the concern, buddy. It's probably a little foolish on my part, but I do trust the people on this site. It's actually just a general outlay, as there is more than one house here. Thanks for the info on the map saving! We gotta get outand do some more hunting soon. I heard you got a pheasant at Stewart......
Elmo
Flush 4 out of a this one field but only walked away with one. Apparently me wing shooting needs some work. Would have helped if I had a modified choke instead of full. The entire backhalf of the bird was completely gone but I saved the breast meat. sits in trees
500 ft from dwellings, stay up in a stand and shoot down and you will be fine.
SteveB
Need to consider recovery rights/permission when the deer ends up on a neighbor's property.
