summit treestands-need help

i have a summit viper xls treestand. not sure what year i got it but have had it a while. it is the old version before they came out with the quick strap stirrups. went hunting last nightand whrn i went to take boots out of straps the bungy cord that goes around your heel frayed. i had to climb down with just a bungy around one heel. does anyone know if you can you buy a replacement bungy cord for this or where to buy one? i have some of the stirrups but only used them a few times and took them off. just didnt feel comfortable using them. maybe because i havent used them enough. anyone use strictly the stirrups? how do you like them?? shojld i give them another try? just looking for some help and some opinions. thanks guys!!

Call Summit mine did the same thing and they sent me a replacement for free

I use strictly stirrups on the Goliath. Works great. I do keep a chord tied between the lower mount and upper mount in the event the lower mount was to slip while I am climbing.

I just use the stirrups on the Summit Razor they came with it. I love them, you just have to get use to them. I also have the older Summit Bushmaster and i changed that to stirrups.

I hate the bungee and strap on my older summit.Get the stirrups.They are so much better.But if not you could just tie a bungee on there.Get one from dollar store or wallmart.Cheap bungee they have in the trailer section.

I have two vipers. Love them. The bungee on one of mine broke this year. I just took a small bungee off of my atv racks, wrapped the metal hooks in duct tape ( so they wouldn't make noise on the metal frame) and hooked it across the platform where the old bungee was. Works as good as new. Shot a buck out if it the next day. No noise no problem...try it before you spend money sending out to the factory. Good luck

i called summit. they dont make those bungys anymore because they have the stirrups. guy said since a loyal customer i can return the xls and get new viper for $187. might have to consider it since new viper sd is retailing for $279.

Why bother spending that money on a new stand, just get the stirrups and pop them on your stand. Youll be good to go.

i have the stirrups. havd had them for a while. put them on last night. might what i can get for price for new one w/out returning one i have. my son will be able to bow hunt in 2 yrs. will have to see

My dad just bought the Stirrups last week they came with a bungie in the box i think he payed 30 bucks on amazon for them they came next day for free.

I have fear of heights and bending down to find the boot strap always scared the crap out of me. Put on the stirrups and they are GREAT!! I put them on 5-6 yrs ago and was one the best purchases I've made.
