josephmrtn
got home last night around 10:30 dad went out to the barn to check the cows, soon he came running in saying theres something in the chicken pen!! i ran upstairs unlocked my shotgun and grabbed my spotlight we ran down to the chicken pen and started shining, we could see some eyes in the grass so we climbed over the fence and walked thru the pen, then we saw it... it was an opposum, 1 round of remington nitro turkey put him out of buisness and then we all headed back to the house to get to bed..... (i used turkey load cause i thought it was prob a coon and also i didnt have any target load)

Pygmy
lucky, they will kill your hens also I'm sure a grinner would kill a chicken under the right circumstances, but over about 40 years having chickens, I can never remember losing one to a possum..Just eggs.. I have lost my share to coons, foxes, and hawks, however. I nearly lost some to a mink once..There was snow on, and the mink tracks led right up from the creek toward my chicken coop...He never quite made it..My yard dawg intercepted Mr Mink and he was laying outside my back door when I found him.
