Is this meat grinder overkill?

Curious as to what part of the bison or chicken they're refering to. Remember, once the breasts, wings, legs, and thighs are removed, the rest is still "chicken". Of course I'm generalizing. NutriSource may have much higher standards than the average dog food company. But in reality, I don't see what's the big deal. Lungs aren't any less healthy to eat than the heart or the liver. It just isn't appetizing to humans. Dogs don't care about that. So it's not like they're eating less healthy because it's the less appertizing cuts.

My dog eats Beneful. Not the best by far but it's what she'll accept. She's very finicky about what she'll eat. I supplement that with a ton of left over human food. Essentially I don't throw any food away. I'm also probably in a different situation than most since my dog weights all but 12 lbs and sleeps all day.

Here's a interesting read:

[edit: grammar and spelling]

Everyone should read this article if they think their dog is getting choice cuts of bison and chicken... A rendering plant does a lot more than supply tallow for cosmetics.

I know but as grossed out as people were getting thinking they were feeding it to their dogs, they ought to get really grossed out when they realize it's going into lipstick too! B)

I don't feed my dog that crap. We give him kibble made by Health Extensions mixed in with human food i.e. ground beef, steak, salmon, chicken or turkey that my wife boils for our dog. We certainly dont give him anything made in China either.

Sounds like an expensive dog. There is still no way that ANY dog food company is going to buy fresh quality beef, or better yet- bison that is fit for human consumption for $3+ per pound (90+% water, $30-40/ lb of dry matter) and dehydrate it to 95% dry matter and sell it in a bag for $1-2 per pound. I don't care how much grain and other fillers they mix with it. Trust me, the meat comes from a rendering plant and it ain't cerified angus either...

i wonder how many people have been through that thing. For real. Not all nut jobs use AR15's. if the guy there was a nut job i am sure he knows who to shut off that camera at the top.Bye bye evidence,Man that is a scary thought.

Ever see the movie Snatch where the guy with the pigs is talking about how fast a pig can eat a human? There is always a little truth in some of the crazy stuff in the movies.

It doesn't have to be fit for human consumption, just has to be fit for dog consumption.

Federal law basically says thay if a cow arrives at the plant on 4 feet and they don't have obvious cancerous tumors or test positive for antibiotics then the animal is fit for human consumption on some level. That leaves deads, downers, cancers, etc for pet food. The cuts may be filet mignon but they could be coming from that bloated whiteface carcass in the video...
