New Crossbow Bills 2013

I just received word that Senator Gallivan's bill number is S1699. This is the companion bill to A283 submitted by Assemblyman Ryan.

These bills are the same bills that were in the Senate and assembly in the last session. Please let you local representatives know you support these bills.

I can't tell if this is just reinstating crossbows for regular and late season or includes archery. I will leave my opinions out of it, just curious.

This bill,as in the last...would include small.big game and fishing

Where an open season, set forth in the table of open seasons

in section 11-0907 or otherwise established by law or fixed by regu

lation, is specified as an open season for taking such game by shotgun,

CROSSBOW or long bow only, or is specified as an open season for taking

such game by long bow only, they shall not be taken except as so speci

fied.

sounds good. Why doesn't it mention rifle though? can you not use an xbow during open season in rifle areas? Or is it just the fact that in those counties you can use a rifle or a shotgun so it doesn't matter?

that still reads a little funny to me, and this is just a comment and I'm no expert obviously but "big game season" and "special archery season" seem different to me. Why not just spell it out.

and in addition, it only "adds authority" it doesn't make it regulation.

It allows the DEC to add them into any big game season. Currently, they cannot do so. The DEC has already stated what their intentions are in the 5 year plan.

We got through the senate and Assembly,and all of the committees by June of last year.

We have already started to have conversation with legislative members through our lobbyist.
