Deerthug
For the last two weeks explorer on my Windows 7 PC has been crashing. It started infrequently and now every time I try to open "my computer" or access a document or photograph, it quits working and restarts. I've so had it with this Dell laptop. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Gthphtm
Heard there is a virus going around, once it gets in they ask you to pay to get rid of it.Either way take it to someone that knows how to save the info you want and let them wipe the hard drive clean and re install every thing. Deerthug
I back everything up so I'm not concerned about losing anything. I'm just so done with PC's. I'm already looking at the iMacs for my next computer. I just need this one to last a little while longer.
Elmo
PCs are the top dogs so every hacker is gunning for them but Macs security is non-existent. When a staff with a Mac gets fired, we bypass their password security with a press of a button.
WNYBuckHunter
Go into your event viewer, look in the application and system logs and get the event Id and error code from the explorer error, then google it. If you are lucky, youll find a fix.

PWGUNNY
WHenever I run into a software issue, I simply unwind my comuter to an earlier date. Go to system restore, choose a date that precedes your intitial problem and let the system reboot to those earlier settings. It works 95% of the time. tuckersdaddy
you said you were running dell... theres your problem. i have 3 (lap top, net book and desk top) everything was great until the warranty ran out. this happened on all 3, the day after the warranty expired, i would get a call from dell service to extend the warranty, i declined, with in 2 hours i began to have internet issues (explorer) then operating system errors. just dumb luck? yea ok. i took all 3 units to a local computer hack, he purged them of all dell linked software, reloaded explorer on the desk top, chrome on the laptop and net book, and its been over a year now trouble free. he said this is the number 1 problem he sees with dell computers. just my 2cents worth.
