T/C Encore Rifle/Pistol permit

I own a Encore Rifle. I applied for my pistol permit.

I would like to know if someone could answer this question?

Can I legally use the frame from my rifle and use it on my pistol permit?

From what I know you cant.  It has to be bought as a handgun to be declared a handgun. 

Only reason why I said this is cause a friend of mine had to buy both , rifle and handgun TC prohunter 2 frames

I dont think the frame has a serial number, the barrel serial is put on your permit. I have heard that what you describe is the way it is, but if I were you, I would call and ask your County Sheriff's office and have them send you the regulation in writing or go pick it up. I want to say that they way that would make sense would be where you have to have a permit to buy the pistol barrels.

Tomorrow I can check my TC prohunter. 

Does the barrel have serial numbers or does the frame have them.

I bought my prohunter as just a frame and later bought the barrel.  When I bought the frame I could swear there was a serial number on it.  I could be wrong but I think the frame of a TC has the numbers on it.

Every pistol barrel you purchase for the encore must be placed on the permit. I already checked because I have an Encore and just filed my permit.

Does the frame need to be registered under the pistol permit in any way?

Cause I was under the assumtion that If you buy it as a pistol it stays as a pistol, if you buy it as a rifle, it stays as a rifle shotgun or muzzleloader.

Even though they are interchangeable, I thought that it couldnt be changed from pistol to rifle for legal reasons.

I have a TC pistol with 4 barrels . No serial number on the barrels . I have 4 permits for the Contender all with the same number from the frame .

When I asked I told them it was a muzzleloader and they...sheriff...said every barrel had to be registered as if it were a seperate pistol. They said nothing about the frame. I guess I assumed the pistol barrels carried numbers since you can't buy one without a pwrmit

You can change the pistol to a rifle/ML or shotgun. I am going to go grab mine now to make sure, but Im almost 100% that the serial of my barrel is on my permit, not the frame. Like I said, I dont think the frame is numbered.

I stand corrected, and now it has me wondering. My frame has the serial, the barrel, nothing. On my permit it has the serial for the frame and the caliber of the barrel. Im going to have to email the Sheriff to find out for sure.

From what I know happened to a friend, a pistol has to stay a pistol a rifle can go from rifle to shotgun to muzzleloader.

He had to buy a pistol and register it as a pistol, then he bought a rifle and another frame so that he could put long barrels on it.  Not that they didnt fit, just for legal reasons.

From what I have been told, if it was bought as a pistol, you can change it out to a rilfe, ML or shotgun as long as you dont sell it as anything but a pistol. If its originally a ML, rilfe or shotgun, you cannot convert it to pistol use. We will see what the Sheriff has to say.

Mine was bought as a muzzle loader...so no paperwork like a rifle. I don't see why they would care if the numbers for what you were carrying were on your permit. Who ever gets a written response first...I would love a forwarded copy
