44 ammo

I just bought a ruger super red hawk for deer hunting ive never shot a 44 before im trying to decide which ammo would be best for deer hunting.  any help would be really appreciated

Hornady XTP's do a number on them.I have only put a few in some deer to finish them from doing drives.No shots over 15 yards.

Another vote for the Hornady XTP's. Grandson has made two one-shot kills on whitetails in the 70-80 yd. range.

I don't mind at all I picked it up for $750 plus tax every where else I looked wanted $850  it come with the scope rings.  I just got back from putting a bushnell trs25 red dot on it.

I got it from gary arcese enterprise in alden ny      he usually beats gander and other gun centers by 50-$150.

Mine has aSeven and half in barrel,I think I paid 425.00 15 years ago.Great gun your gonna love it.

i also went with the 7.5'' barrel I wish the price was still 425 I cant wait to shoot it this weekend

Grab a couple of boxes of shells,the gun shoots pretty good with anything I feed it.You gotta pick one that you like.I also have 44spl ammo when I just feel like shooting the gun.Enjoy your gonna love it.

Federal 300 grain cast core are nice but the Buffalo bore really packs a punch with 340 grains.  I like the heavy rounds with my model 94 but I would stick with 240 in a handgun.   Hornady makes great ammo...  Great for practicing very consistent so far.
