Looking to get my son signed up for the bow hunter and hunter safety classes. Just wondering if anyone knows the prices of these classes.

You actually pay for them when you buy anything hunting or fishing related.  11% of every purchase goes to the Pittman Robertson Act and that money is used to fund these things.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to have your hunter safety course certificate before you take the bow course? Or is there a joint class?

They actually have a combo class now where you can take them both at the same time.

No you don't need your gun course first. And yes they do have a class that does both gun and bow.

Yep, you do need both to be able to get bow tags though.

 

Additional Requirements: Hunter Education is required in addition to this course to obtain a bowhunting privilege. It doesn't matter which course is taken first. If you wish to take both at once, DEC offers a convenient Combination Hunter and Bowhunter Education Course.
