Remington 783

I am getting my first large caliber rifle in the next couple of weeks for my birthday. I have my mind set on the remington 783 but i just want to know if anyone has shot it or has it and can tell me what they think about it because YouTube and other internet sources dont have much on it

Outdoor life did a test on 5 or 6 rifles under 500 dollars last year.I dont know if the 783 was one of them,but I do know that the Ruger American smoked them all

Careful of cheap Remingtons. I have heard and read a lot of bad things about the 887 and 710.

I have the remington 870 and havent had any problems... The other rifle i was looking at was the marlin 336 30-30

If I had one rifle to buy, it would be the new Winchester 70.  Very accurate, great trigger and getting rave reviews.

Take a look if your get a chance.

I was in Gander Mtn. a while back and a guy was dropping off his 783 to be repaired (under warranty) The bolt handle pulled out of the bolt. The gunsmith said he had seen this problem, with 783's before. 

You should check out the Ruger American. They are a well made, quality rifle that are very well priced. I think they run about $400.00 brand new.

I've heard some good reports on the 783.  It a whole lot better rifle than the previous low-end model they had out.  I'd definitely consider the Ruger American, though.  Some really nice features on that one.  These lower priced rifles are not things of beauty, but you DO get a heck of lot for your money with them.  They are pretty much just as accurate as higher cost models and will kill deer just as dead.

I have the Marlin 336 in stainless, I've only had it 2 years, but never any problems so far. Mine is chambred in 30-30, it works for where and what I hunt. Not sure what caliber you are looking for , or if you would prefer a bolt action to a lever. Levers work better for me as a left handed shooter.

Pretty sure it was the 783. I saw the rifle and and it had the smooth stock, not that butt ugly 770 stock, with the vertical lines all the way down it. I could be wrong but I think it was the 783.

 

Can't believe Remington continues to put their name on the 770.

a buddy has a 783 and its a nice little gun. though for that price range, check out the savage packages they have at gnder.. that accutrigger is sweet
