It was October 18th, muzzleloader season. My little girl, Lilly who is five years old had asked me to take her hunting. Her little brother and I got our first turkey together this year in May and made the syracuse news papper. She said " I want to be famous too and be in the news papper with you, but I want to get a deer instead of a turkey". We got ready for our big hunt. We arrived to the field we were going to hunt and headed to our spot. We were getting ready to sit down and two deer had spotted us and took off. I asked Lilly do you want to sit here or do you want to see if we can sneak around them. She said "I think we should go around them Dad". I said "ok, but you have to move fast and be very quiet". We began our attack. Little to say, Lilly lagged behind and stepped on every stick in the forest, along with singing and asking questions. We sat down and leaned against a tree. Shortly after a little chipmunk had her attention and she got some giggles from it. I was focused on where I thought the deer would be coming from. I had looked over at Lilly and she had sloutched down and fell a sleep. As the hunt went on she was twitching and slightly snoring. I thought great there is know way we are going to see anything. About 40 minutes later I heard something in the leaves thinking it was the chipmunk. I turned my head slow and there was a doe standing twenty feet from us. Im thinking Lilly don't move please! The doe continued walking I pulled back the hammer and she heard me. I said O no! She is looking right at us and Lilly is sprawed out in blaze orange. She thankfully decided to keep walking. I pulled my gun up slow and squeezed the trigger and BAM! Lilly sat up very quickly and said "did you get one Dad"?I said "yes we did it honey, we got our first deer together." "Let's go get it." We recovered our deer and she was as happy as can be.
