I double wrap in plastic wrap and then wrap in coated freezer paper.  I label with the date, cut and deer (i.e. doe, 8 point, etc.).  It lasts a long time that way, but it is usually gone by the the time the next hunting season comes around anyway.

How does everyone store their venison?  i know in a freezer.  I mean how do you package the meat.  Do you put all the information on the packages that is required?  I process my own and I use a heavy duty vacuum sealer and mark the packages with what it is date of kill and tag number. .

I vacuum seal it all. labeled by cut. Once the season started and we got the first deer I took the left over from 2013 and canned it. Any of the sausages we make is also vacuum sealed

a tip for those that may keep meat at the second house (upstate)

 

place a plastic cup with ice cubes in your freezer, if you eve return to your house and they are no longer in the form of cubes, you lost power at some point

 

otherwise you could lose power have your food defrost and re freeze without ever knowing it
