Two Track
Besides looking at kennels/breeders, you may want to see about rescues at animal shelters too. Our dog was a rescued puppy that was shipped here from southern Texas that we picked up at the local shelter. Met one hunter who got his best "coon hounds from a ASPCA shelter. You just never know. Stop by a couple shelters and let them know. Some of them will let you if one comes in, or even keep a look out for one when they transfer dogs in from an over-loaded shelter.
sits in trees
Yea, why not adopt some poor mutt that they will euthanize this week and help put those money hungry breeders out of business. My daughter went on craigslist and adopted a Husky some Mexican family had chained to a concrete block in their yard 24/7. The thing was boney and sick, you gotta see that Husky today. My son adopted a little mutt from some poor southern trailer trash in Texas also, and she's now got a great home, happy and healthy.

All my mutts have been awesome companions and super loyal with out all the vet bills associated with inbred purebreds .
NFA-ADK
[email protected] I get e-mails from them about labs all the time. I would recommend trying all the local rescue shelters and pounds before getting a puppy. They have so many I am sure you can find what you are looking for. Good luck.
