Zag
I'd like to add a small pond in our back yard. I swear I heard that you could get funding for habitat improvement. Any one have any knowledge on this?
G-Man
You have to get a management plan approved and see what you can qualify for. Thru your county soil and water conservation district. Its a long application process.
Doc
When you receive government assistance for pond construction, are there some strings attached to the use of those ponds such as fishing seasons and state fishing limits? I seem to have a very vague recollection of something like that.
G-Man
It depends on what program you qualify for. I am having two ponds put in. one Acre each at for ducks (4 ft deep max) no cost.but I placed the land in permanant conservation easement. The land and actress to it is still mine, but cannot cut (trees) anything or mow trail, ect.
Fantail
Involve the government in what to do on my property - hey, what a great idea.
Gizmo285
I don't even want anyone from the government LOOKING at my property let alone giving me assistance because you know where that leads. They have too much power already......... If I can't afford to do something I don't do it... Gives a great piece of mind.
landtracdeerhunter
In some instances, Soil and Water will have to be notified anyway. Wetland classifications are a touchy subject.
