The friendly grouse

This young one has no fear, even when the lawn mower is running. We were putting gravel down on the road and he wanted to help.

It's not uncommon for grouse to do stuff like that.

It never happened to me and I can't explain why the do what they do.

Several years ago I was sitting on a folding stool in a cold drizzle during deer season when a grouse wandered over and sat right underneath me for almost an hour. I guess he/she just wanted to get out of the rain for a little while.

Who can say what goes on in the mind of a bird .... lol. I do remember a story about a grouse that befriended some hunter and used to meet him everyday and travel a ways with as he walked.
