Opening day observations

I have seen the same the scrapes are still being used that means all the buck didn't get knocked down on opening day . I have seen does but no bucks around. Hopefully that will change soon.

Big moon, big wind, and warm temps means deer are not moving except at night.

All the scrapes were tended and the weather moving in at the end of the week should help things.

Interesting, I have a piece of property in South Gilboa off Meghan Rd. up from the Summer Camp. I know there is no shortage of deer in the area.

I hope "5 Guys" didn't leave a blood trail ..........

Just an observation about the bucks. They were still hitting the scrapes in my area. Every scrape was freshly pawed over each night. Thought it would be a bit late for this?

Yep, thats what Ive been thinking too.

I watched the episode of D&DH that had his predictions on it again last night, and the correlations between that and what I have heard and observed so far this season are remarkable. Some chasing and a few occurrences of breeding in late Oct/early Nov, then a lull before things really are supposed to get good starting right about now. We will see what happens in the next week or two, because that is the time frame that will tell the story.

I can't wait. I just hope the deer aren't too screwed up from all the added hunter activity.

If it's true, a late rut, the next two weeks should be good? My area was not hunted hard on opening week. I will miss Thanksgiving weekend and be back up the following weekend. Be interesting to see the buck activity then.
